Default Anyone recall a Springfield Green ‘72 HO Formula at the T/A Nats?

Sometime in the late-1990s or early-2000s there was a Springfield Green ‘72 HO Formula that received an Editor’s Choice Award at the T/A Nats.

A small color photo of the car (front 3/4-ish angle) was included in the event coverage in the magazine that awarded it.

I swear it was in HPP, but for the life of me, cannot find the issue. That has me wondering if it was even HPP, but I don’t believe Pontiac Enthusiast covered the event like HPP did.

Does anyone happen to recall what year that car was there so I can trace down the magazine/issue?

A member of our local Pontiac club had a Springfield Green '72 Formula 455 HO a few years ago and the color wasn't bad. The color is exactly as RicksGTO described it. In the early seventies, greens like that were quit common. Color is a very subjective thing, so I'd say paint it a color that you would enjoy. But if it were mine, I'd paint it Sundance Orange. I once saw a beautifully restored Sundance Orange '72 Formula 400 and it really stood out.

Found this old post from Jim Rotella

Thanks!

Jim is my dad and he’s talking about the same car.

We both wonder what became of it! It went to Georgia in the mid-1990s and showed up at the T/A Nats at least once in the years that followed.

Unfortunately, it isn’t.

The one in question didn’t have a vinyl roof and had tan interior.

You really got me thinking when you mentioned the car may have come to Georgia and had been seen at the TA Nationals. Would imagine this car would have been at the TA Nats around 2005 if it is the car I am thinking of.

Do you happen to have a name of who bought it in Georgia? Was it an automatic car with no AC?

Was it possibly that late? Mid 2000s? I suppose it could have been.

And yes! Auto without A/C. I was hoping to find the magazine so I could see who the owner was. Do you happen to know the car?

The car I am thinking of was owned by Chris Holyfield and/or Ed Waller. Not sure the spelling of Chris' last name is correct and do not know if he has ever been a member here. I had a computer crash on me in about 2006 so any photos I had of the car are probably gone forever.

In searching HPP from 2002 until 2008, the Formula isn't in the event coverage in those issues and the Editor's Choice awards went to other cars.

I'm thinking it was in the mid-to-late 1990s. I'll need to have my dad dig out his collection from that era. Or possibly another magazine all together? Did Pontiac Enthusiast cover it?
