I was told about this book by a priest at St Vincent Archabbey. Author is Kelly Jankowski. She is a nurse who worked at a hospital nursing critical ill patients. These are stories about these patients. What these patients saw on the other side and what they see when the veil thins during the dying process. Giving me something to think about,today as I still grieve for the loss of my wife.

My father passed away about two weeks ago, my mother mentioned the vivid dreams he was having lately, visiting old friends in his dreams, very enjoyable dreams evidently.

My father-in-law is not long for this world and just recently his wife mentioned that he was having very vivid dreams. So vivid that he sometimes acts on them, I guess last week he woke up and called his secretary of 20 years ago and asked her to type up a speech he was working on .... at 5am on a Sunday morning. No idea how he still had her phone number.

In neither case was either person dealing with any dementia concerns. I can't help but think as our time gets close that the divide between this world and next gets smaller and smaller.

The story last night I read the man had a heart attack. When he was medically sedated he recalled flying faster and higher,and feeling no fear,music he never heard , soothing finally meeting up with family and friends and all the people he helped throughout his life. Meeting Jesus. He didnt want to come back to his life. Jesus said you are not ready you have more to do there have faith.

It's definitely something we cannot explain or fully understand unless we've been there. As someone who has "died" twice there is definitely *something* to alleviate the process and take us to the next place peacefully.

I nearly died on May 15 from septic shock caused by a kidney stone. Was in ICU for 8 days and then put in a room for the next 3 weeks. During that time, I remember 1 day looking at the TV set on the wall and above the TV set seeing my parents, grand parents and a brother who passed 5 years ago, all were shaking there heads side to side tell me it wasn't my time yet.

My dad died on the operating table after suddenly getting extremely ill. They brought him back to life and he said the experience was not a positive one. It wasn’t him time to go I guess.
He died about 6 months later after tying up a lot of loose ends and making some changes in his life. I’m not going into great detail here, but me and him did not get along at all, but we both TRIED to patch things up a little after his illness.
One day I decided to give him a call ( the day before he died) He was telling me how good he was doing health wise and a lot of chit chat BS. Even told me he wanted to see my new Harley. I got off the phone and told my wife “I don’t know who the f*** that was who I was talking to, but that sure ain’t my dad!” He was actually acting nice to me for the first time in my life!
The next morning at 4 am my mom called to say he had an emergency operation and passed away.
I like to think he knew what was coming, and God gave him a second chance finally tied up those loose ends.

My mom is entering end stage after an incredibly difficult 5 years and although I have my faith, reminders like this help me to cope/keep my chin up.

I might have told this story before about my experience. The wife had teased me about going back to where we met(Catholic AlumniClub) 42 yrs before and looking for 2 Italian girls we knew if she died. After she died I was lost called the club just for socializing. There was a Christmas Party coming up so I made reservations. The week before the party I receive or my wife receives a Christmas Card from a male friend she knew before me. So found his number called him and told him the news.He was beside himself. He told about their dating an Golden Retriever he bought she named Sunshine. That Saturday was the party. So I'm over at the gravesite talking to her. Getting ready to leave,I hear a rustle behind me, not thinking anything,a Golden Retriever was there,I said, Hi fella, he came over kissed my hand twice and ran off. Coincidence I dont know ,on that day at that specific time?. I do know how I felt and still do to this day.

Many years ago I read a book called "Heading Towards Omega" by Kenneth Ring. It's about near-death experiences. There are some very interesting stories from people who have been dead and then resuscitated.

SDBOB, I’m so sorry for your loss… I can only imagine how difficult it is to lose your wife. I lost my dad a couple months back, and even though I’m assured by God’s promises to us, there are still days that are very tough… I miss him very much. He was a great man, and tought me more than I could ever imagine.

If you want another great read, look into “Imagine Heaven”, it has so many amazing experiences from people who have had near-death experiences themselves that reveal incredible detail of how awesome heaven really is!

There was an article on Epoch Times about a researcher investigating 4,000 NDEs. He hasn’t reached a conclusion but many of the cases mirror what is in this book. My Uncle Bill claimed a NDE while undergoing open heart surgery in the 1980s. He “died” during the procedure but was resuscitated. He talked of seeing his body on the operating table as he ascended toward a bright light. When he reached the light a voice said “It isn’t your time!”. He awoke in ICU a few hours later.

I was brought into the ER without a pulse or blood pressure due to septic shock. Like others have said I experienced a calming while light. It was total tranquility as I was floating away until I felt two sets of hands holding me back from going any further. One set was my wife's who I list earlier that year to cancer and my grandfather who passed in 1970 from cancer when I was 14 y.o. They pulled me back down to the table in the ER where I came to. Wasn't my time yet.

This was told to me by a longtime friend of the family who my dad confided in after he died the first time on the OR table.
He said he “woke up” during the operation and was totally aware of everything around him. There was an opening in the ceiling and there were 5 or 6 black faceless figures there. He felt they were there to take him away. He was scared and didn’t want to go. These don’t sound like angels to me.
Like I said he tried to change things after that. I could tell a lot more, but this is personal stuff. I’ll just say even though he died unexpectedly 6 months later, it was in peace, in spite of the blood he was vomiting up. He had more concern for my mom, who was there, then of dying. As I said in my first post. I think he made his peace with the world, so wasn’t afraid to go anymore.

Have you seen the move "I Can Only Imagine"? Seems like your dad had some last minute changes during his time here. I am glad you guys sorted out some of your issues.
