This season has not gone very well. We made some changes to the car over the winter and I was hoping to improve on my best time. I didn't get the car to the track until June and could not make a full pass. The car was launching hard right. I did not get that issue figured out and before you knew it, we were at the Pontiac Nationals. I made two partial runs on Friday and parked the car as we did not have high gear. I got the transmission fixed and continued to adjust the car. I finally was able to make a full pass in September, but the car was still going right and I had to lift a little to get the car under control. After fighting this all year I decided to make a change in the four link. The result was my best ET of 8.44 @ 159 mph(I actually ran it twice that day). The car still went right a little, but I knew I was going in the right direction. I adjusted the pre load and took the car to the track a few days later and turned my best 60' of 1.20 twice. I did not improve on the ET as it ran an 8.45 and 8.46. The car also launched straight. The track then closed for the season, but I now have something to build on for next year. Double adjustable shocks will also be installed on the front this winter.
Here is a video of one of the 8.44 runs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiHXZDK9VoI Last edited by 421 Bird; 11-04-2024 at 04:32 PM. |

Here is the time slip. Our track doesn't change the ink in the printer until it's absolutely necessary and I had it in my pocket.

This story sounds a bit like my golf game, trouble all season, then at the end of the season I get a few good shots in and have a great last round…. just so I want to come back next season
I hope youhave a great winter and come back strong next year with a car running straight and fast..

Thanks everyone.
The race weight is 2,658 lbs. Here are videos from two passes that I made 5 days later. The car is launching much straighter after I adjusted the preload. These are also the two runs that produced my best 60' times at 1.20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKCC5S-rmfg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LmZ0Ro65uE |

Just think what it will do on a track that is not uphill for the last 400 feet like Quaker.
Good job |

chuckies76ta,
The tires are 33" and it hits the rev limiter at 7,600 at 8 seconds into the run. I got the new converter last winter and went to a taller tire, but I may have to have the stall dialed back a little. Ken MacNicol, I get what you are saying about the uphill track. I am looking forward to what I may run at Norwalk next summer. |
