The first in-car install in a ’69 GTO has been completed by the owner and the results are very good. He is very happy with the results, and will likely put this car on the rollers for some final dyno tuning. I've asked him to post some first hand remarks on this forum when he gets the chance.
I rode in the car before the tuning was complete, and the power is most impressive. Here are some of the highlights: - No hood clearance problems. - No under hood clearance issues, power steering box, exhaust, etc. all cleared. - No real issues with the supercharger/intercooler/front drive install in general, this part went pretty smoothly. Some shimming was necessary for one of the idler pulleys to insure alignment, but other than that, no issues. The idler pulleys are designed to take shims to allow for a perfect fit for every car. - There were some issues around the EFI installation, as is typical when converting any carbureted car to full sequential EFI. o The crank trigger and cam signal setup is a little tricky when using the front mounted crank trigger instead of the dual sync trigger. Once setup correctly, there were no issues. o This particular system has 8 separate coils for individual spark trim and individual cylinder fuel trim. These coil systems have very high voltage, so the grounds are super important. Once the grounds were sorted, there were no issues. Some takeaways from the install: - It was helpful to have a radiator with the inlet and outlet both on the passenger side. It can be done with a traditional driver side inlet hose but packages much more nicely with both hoses on the passenger side. Cold Case sells a reasonably priced radiator with both fittings on the passenger side- and one was used here. - The supercharger part of the installation was fairly easy and everything fit pretty well with no rework of any parts necessary, the EFI part was more difficult. - The engine runs very smoothly, idles nicely and is a very tractable street engine with plenty of power under boost.

The in-car blower test is around 10 psi using stock unported cast iron 4X heads and 91 octane.

Supercharged GTO on the road. It is pretty surprising as there is virtually no noise or whine from the supercharger, unlike many other packages that have a loud and distinct whine. This is at least in part due to the helical bevel drive gears which are much quieter than straight cut spur gears.
