Glad I'm not boring anyone. It's been a lot of fun to work on this car with him.

I stopped over at the school this afternoon to see it run and tweak a few more things.

He pulled around from the parking lot and said "There's a big problem." My head went to rod knock, oil leak, fuel leak, electrical short...turns out the speedo wasn't working. I'll take it. I'm not sure he was going fast enough for it register though.

It's not quite ready for prime time, but it's not too far off. To be safe, we need to install an extension on the brake booster push rod and bleed the brakes again. The tail lights need some attention too. Likely just new bulbs. The shop teacher said he'll be around over Thanksgiving vacation and would let us come in to work on it if we wanted to.

What disc-brake conversion did you use?
Thanks

We used a Summit kit which ended up being Right Stuff parts. I bought the kit with the 11” booster since things are tight under the hood. The new hard lines came from Inline Tube.

Think about getting LEDs. They're s lot brighter. This may be considered blasphemy, but I'd even consider putting in a center brake light since it's gonna be a daily driver.

We need to sort the wiring first. Someone butchered the tail light wiring and it’s held together with a bunch of crimped butt connectors. Not all the bulbs light up. and the turn signals don’t work either so there’s probably a ground issue somewhere. A new rear harness is $400 and a two month wait from M&H so we’ll work with what we have for now.

Junkyard search, let’s go! Haha! I remember my dad teaching me the ropes on that when I was a teenager. Caring a tool bag of stuff and going out to a pick& pull looking for parts for our pieced together vehicles.

I still get a lot of used parts through junkyards, but most of them don’t let you pull your own stuff anymore. I found this website to be very useful though to locate those yards and have purchased a lot of stuff this way to have them ship also. Good luck!

It’s come in very handy for numerous parts for my 39 cars over the years! LOL

That is not a bad idea on the third brake light. I was junkyard shopping and found a third brake light that came from a mid 80's Grand Prix. These were like a pedestal on the rear deck of rear window. I put an LED bulb in it and changed all of the lights, except for headlights, to LED's. If it is easier to see my car due to better brake lights, that is worth it. This is on my 1976 Firebird.

We’ll still fix up the honeycombs and see how they look, but I didn’t expect to like the RIIs and redlines to look so good.
I have a nice set of 14" honeycombs that I'd be willing to sell... I'll even throw in a 5th one for a spare.

I appreciate it, but I grabbed a set from Mike. Didn't get a spare, though.

The e brake in my 75 TA has not been reliable since I got it and unfortunately I don't have a level spot on my 1/2 acre to park it when not in the garage. I have to leave it in rev and not running or put something behind the tire if I want to leave it running while I adjust things under the hood or whatever.

I noticed there is about 1/8-1/4" of lateral play in the pedal so I figured it was most likely worn out and possibly bent since it would have gotten heavy use being a 4 speed.

I started "researching" which is usually what I do. Pricing used units, studying assembly diagrams etc. kinda wasted 3-4 hrs. Thankfully didn't buy anything.

When I finally got under the dash and looked at what was going on I found that the trigger latch(not sure actual name) was gummed up with old factory melted lube and not fully engaging. I cleaned and hit with some lube. Working like new.

I never seem to learn to diagnose first. At least lay eyes on it. Anyway an easy fix and I didn't even get dirty.

What am I doing with my Pontiac?...

Making progress over the last few weeks, trying to make my 67 Firebird mobile again. It sat all summer after I almost traded it for a 77 Formula cloned to be a T/A. Summer sux here.

My fuel gauge didn't work. My speedometer bounced all over. I have a cheap aftermarket temp/oil/volts pod at the console, and a tach clamped to the steering column. As much as I appreciate a car that looks like a high school kid pimped it out with spare money earned baling hay, I got tired of such a brick-a-brack.

So I went with an Intellitronix digital gauge kit that will have it all. It's not for the purist, but I dig it. Got it all wired up and adapted so that the alternator GEN field is now fed by the hi beam bulb. I'm cleaning up the electrical, pulled out the alarm, and will do a cleaner install to include power lock motors.

Got that part all working, only to fire it up for the first time in months and find a spraying fountain of a fuel leak. I replaced some push-lok hose, and redid a small piece of hard line.

Next is pulling the 400 out of the 72 Lemans, and selling it as a roller. 400 will eventually go in the bird.

Awesome Bart!

I loved seeing a picture of your little doggie we spoke of in the past. Now how about a couple of pics of some of the other cars that came....Looks like a 60 El Camino & a MG-TD? What is the mint green wagon?

God Bless

One noteworthy Pontiac that showed up this morning was this absolutely badass 1967 GP convertible.

Powered by a ‘69 2-bolt 428 with a 455 crank it has Kaufman D-ports for a mild 9.3:1 compression along with a small hydraulic roller cam and has Sniper EFI on a RPM intake as well as long-branch manifolds and a 2-1/2” exhaust. It’s hooked up to a 200-4R and a 3.50 geared Ford 9”.

It also has 4-wheel disc brakes and custom built 17” 8-lug wheels. There were only 5800 or so of rhese GP convertibles produced, 1967 was the only year that the drop top GP was available.

This thing was perfect.

The owner also has another hood with ‘68-‘70 GTO hood scoops grafted in with plans to fabricate a stock looking Ram Air setup. He has a better pair of front fenders for it that will be installed during the new paint job, a complete interior redo is coming too.

To me it looks like a well-finished car just as it sits but it’s not as perfect as the owner wants it right now.

Interesting approach for those wheels. That large of a flat area between the hub and rim looks a funny to me, but I guess your options are limited if you want a bigger tire with 8 lugs It need some thing to break it up. I saw these wheels at a GoodGuys show a while back and while they aren't actually 8 lugs, I thought they looked slick. I'm sure they were big money.
