I used the Amazon Barrina (sp) 8' LED. 3 rows of five each, 5000k color ... still a bit "white" for me, would have liked something just a tad warmer. But they are a great deal. So far so good, reviews are good on balance, but some people report longevity problems, others have them going for years. At their price point you can afford spares. And they saved me the expense and trouble of running full size wire across the entire ceiling. I also used them for the bench top lighting, but I'm going to have install some shades on the front side, they are a bit blinding at that level when you glance across at them.

Installed the hardboard on one of the benches today, seems like it will hold up nice with a minimal effort not to abuse it.

Set my 40 lb machinist tool box on four 3d printed corner "skids" and it glides extremely easy across the hardboard, so easy I was worried the box would move when I opened a drawer, but it seems good. Going to stick them on the corners of my cheapo metal parts bins that typically have some sharp edges on the bottoms. I'll be able to swap them around without scratching anything .. usually takes me a few tries to get them grouped in a way that makes sense.

Mine is Formica. Seems tough. I’ve had my cylinder heads on it and it doesn’t gouge or stain. Easy to clean. Problem should router the edge so something doesn’t snag and start a crack.

Regarding the lighting, I found out the hard way that the high output, high-bay, crazy lumen rated LED lights I installed played absolute hell with FM reception. IF you listen to the radio, plan accordingly!

This is the style, there are a lot of variations and lots of sellers. Had one go bad, seller was great about a replacement. I think I have six of these total in my 40x40 work area.

dataway, great looking shop! What is the wall and ceiling material? I'd fab toe boards front and back on shelves above the work benches, especially the benches where the BFH will be deployed! That fire ext. looks like a headache waiting to happen

I used left over 1.5” white oak flooring. The stuff is pretty much indestructible except for direct flame. ��

Yes, the LED lights do produce some FM noise, specially if you are plugging the radio into a circuit that has a breaker on the same half of the 240v that supplies the lights.

I opted for the lower Lumen output version of the lights specifically to avoid the over driven LED drivers that are noisy and seem to be the source of the premature failures.

GtoFM ... hehe, yes, that is a good idea, I don't plan on doing much hammering on these benches, but I will be doing some pushing and pulling, and being on wheels they will try to move some, and yes, some things have fallen already. So thanks for reminding me, I will definitely reconsider what I am putting up there.
