I tried to install the TCI aluminum shield on a TH400 in my stock floor 69 lemans. I could not get it to fit by hammering the floor so I gave up on it until now. I have the engine and trans in the car and I want to cut the stock tunnel out and either buy or make a new larger tunnel. Anyone have and advice on a pre made tunnel or what you did? Thanks

Chassisworks has kits to fab your own:

Get yourself one of these SFI cases. I tried to use the tranny shield and could not get it installed in the car. What a pain in the A**. I tried a tranny blanket, same results. And then you still need a shield on the bell housing. I went to the JW bell housing with my first stock tranny. Next race season I went with the Reid case. There is also the speedmaster case that is alot cheaper and it's SFI approved. At the same time build yourself a catch can for the transmission vent tube.

I ask if your body bushings are shot you may be able to gain some
Clearance with new or urethane not not I would say 64 a body is atleast as tight as a 68-72. There was no good way to install an aluminum shield and flex plate shield. The carbon trans covers wouldn't be much easier in the end, An ultra bell and a trans blanket i was the lowest profile way to go unless you want to spring for an sfi case as mentioned above
