Use the rear 3/8 fitting on your holley for the pvc. Just loop the hose down under the intake and to the pvc valve that has a 90 deg fitting on top. Run your booster from the intake port on back of manifold. This is how mine is set up and it does fine.

Why do more people not just vent the PCV to the atmosphere when they have issues like this? I've been curious and I'm wondering what downsides you see. It seems I've seen a lot of chevy's vent out of the valve covers to atmosphere over the years.

Ideally, you do want something drawing the fumes out of the crankcase, they are corrosive. Better for engine longevity to suck that stuff outta there, keeps your oil cleaner, etc

That's what my engine builder did. I have a solid valley pan with breathers on my valve covers. No pcv valve.

I drilled and tapped holes on my intake, used AN fittings, tube nuts, and aluminum tube for my PVC & brake booster. Works great.
You would only need to do one. Don't run that flat aluminum Butler pan with the PCV in it, as previously stated, they suck a lot of oil. .

Crankcase venting via PCV system was the FIRST emissions-control device. Dead simple, dirt-cheap, VERY effective, and increases engine life. There is NO downside to a properly set-up PCV system which, of course, includes some sort of oil-baffling to prevent oil mist or liquid oil from being sucked into the intake manifold; and which distributes the fumes as evenly as practical to all the engine's cylinders.
Gotta be nuts to delete PCV on any engine driven primarily at part-throttle. Venting to the atmosphere is Just Plain Lazy--Junior-High-School engineering. And as for using those stupid valve cover breathers to do it, even the ancient engines had a road-draft tube that would suck the fumes out and onto the highway at moderate or high speed. They weren't waiting for enough pressure to build-up in the crankcase to push the fumes past a breather element. Last edited by Schurkey; 03-27-2025 at 11:52 AM. |
