You can almost put them on in any position. When they were installed, I'm sure the person was just installing them, not really paying attention to level.

This trip we took back to the Midwest was it's first trip across the TX border since November of '71. Looks like 71GP76TA has the Canadian sticker covered. Cool.

Well, as the saying goes sometimes... Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.
I have my sights set on the next project so I am going to sell the survivor. It's a great car and a tribute to the early second gen Trans Am. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Pontiac-Trans-...222?nav=SEARCH

This should be a benchmark price paid for a unrestored Trans Am, good luck with the sale.

I guess I could hurry and sell my house! (But my wife won't let me)
What a beautiful car. I'd love to have it next to my other 3 72's. Maybe next lifetime...... Can't wait to see what your next project will be Greg. |

More to the story! While this car is indeed a 72 survivor, it has a replacement carburetor, it was a correct 7042270 but it had a 1975 date code (0645). Well the original owner had an estate sale (about a year ago), he was a car guy and had lots of cars and parts, I always suspected he had the original carb somewhere in the back of one of his shops. Well good news is I was able to find the original carb from the 72 TA, I couldn’t believe it when I saw the part number on the carb, it was in a gm carb box but for some the model. The estate sale was an auction so I had to pay a bit more than I hoped, but it’s worth it!! Super rare carb. It is a 7042270 with date code 2451 (Sept 1 1971), from my research it’s extremely hard to find that 72 carb with a 71 date code.

Wow, lucky you were able to purchase the original carb from the car. Does Greg still own the car now?
Fortunately, my two 72 T/A's both have their original carbs. These rare Quadrajets are going for stupid money these days! Last edited by 4birds; 01-01-2025 at 11:14 AM. |
