Looked at them.
Then closed the garage door.

Bought this contraption (monster adapter plate setup) so I can somehow someday get my Tempest project sorted out.

Replaced the valve covers on my Firebird because I got overzealous with my impact installing my old ones. Cracked the ear right off the cast aluminum.
I didn't think the 1/4 impact had enough juice to do that. Live and learn.

Swapped out a leaky <brand new> brake booster yesterday on the Ventura. It was hissing when you applied the brakes and would also stall the engine when it was cold. Much better now.
This morning we headed over to the monthly cars and coffee. The trips in the Ventura are getting a little bit longer each time. My GTO feels like a Ferrari after driving the Ventura for a few weeks LOL. Smaller crowd today, but it was nice to see a few other Pontiacs out.

First time I have seen her in 4+ months. Inside a Lisbon warehouse awaiting processing thru customs. Won't start; will turn over but no spark - will need an ECM read to find out what.

I walked out to the garage to grab the snow shovel this morning and took a look at the Goat. It said "I'm fine in here, don't shovel the driveway just for me, I ain't goin nowhere for anything or anybody. Not even you. Now close the door so I can go back to sleep". So I did and left.
The driveway still isn't cleaned off. It'll melt off someday after the storm next weekend, I hope.

Took a little early afternoon drive through the local canyons with my wife and our little dog.
About 70 degrees at midday, perfect.

It was about 30 degrees earlier this afternoon, about 20 degrees warmer than what it was for the last few days, so I started up the 70 GP and backed it out of the garage to let it idle and warm up. Running on E85 it will barely reach 180 degrees sitting there idling for 15 minutes, but it got warm enough to burn out the condensation, and it sounded good sitting there idling so it was good for both the car and I.

Moved it!
Had to change the oil and a few more maintenance things on the wife’s Suburban, so the ‘55 got moved out temporarily. I hate running it for a short time, but don’t really want to drive it with salt on the roads. I don’t think I had any nighttime pics, so I took a few.

Finally warmed up enough here to do some more engine assembly! Screwed in studs & guide plates, rockers are in place. Soaking new Rhoads lifters now.
Opened up Ames package yesterday, these valve covers will look great on there!

New trans mount and filter on the Ventura. Unlike my GTO, you have to unbolt and move the trans crossmember to get to the rear bolts on the pan which is annoying.
Speaking of bad designs, whoever installed the dual exhaust utilized the stock single exhaust cross over and welded in parallel dual pipes down the passenger side. This made it very difficult to access the crossmember bolts on the passenger side. Once they were out, the exhaust was in the way to moving the crossmember back enough to get good clearance to work. We have new exhaust coming this week, so I probably should have just waited to do the trans but the pan was leaking quite a bit.

This is my Y88. Engine rebuilt by Len Williams.
After getting the no spark and no fuel to carb issues resolved......She fired up and I was able to do the engine break in procedures. |
