Oh! that's a great car owned by a diehard Pontiac guy. He also has a fantastic 67-68 Red Firebird that's pretty fast.

I'd really like to hear some details on the engine build. The article says it's on E85 and I don't see any type of intercooling on it. It just mentions it is on 12lbs of boost. If I could get away with turbo'ing my car without integrating an intercooler it sure would make it a heck of a lot easier to package.

Neat car. All the non intercooled stuff I've seen is usually running a strict diet of either e85 or methanol to keep things cool with any amount of boost.

I guess if you have that type of fuel available to you it's perfect. Not very practical out here where we basically have none. I suspect that's one reason why they have the majority of drag and drive events on the eastern side of the US where that fuel is more prevalent as more of these cars push the limit.

Does anyone know if something happened to Nick Wiegand and his Smokey and the Bandit-inspired ’76 Pontiac Trans Am? Was watching, I think his last run when you could hear a bang and it looked like he pulled over off track.
