Maybe a flood recovery car?

Seen it too many times. Not a flood vehicle, but a vehicle that set outside & took in the coastal breeze for decades. Will on the other hand note, a lot of performance cars & future collectibles have made it out of flood waters, partially disassembled & fresh washed within an inch of their life. I sold several nice used wiring harnesses for 2nd Gens & '70 & 71 A-body's that went through that disassembly, washing & drying process after Hurricane Sandy. My thought at the time was the shops were being thorough.

Coastal & somewhat coastal vehicles...
A few years ago, GTO.Paul & I were on a monster roadtrip & in a big SE US yard. Nearly every car near 50 years old in that yard had ODD rust locations/ top of hoods/middle of decklids. At least odd for guys like us who've boneyarded in the far N, out wisest, & at least w me, into Ark-LA-Tex, S Tex & much further west. In the SC yard, we weren't encountering just the typical rust spots, like a catwalk rotted out, or a '68 GTO hood with rust behind the scoop area towards the back off the hood.

25 years ago, I provided cut off A-pillar sections from of one one of my partscars for a '78 4spd T/A. That T/A had spent early life in San Diego, then over 15 years in Hawaii. Thankfully the new owner, that T/A had been Ziebarted (I hate Zbart plugs). Was also heavily undercoated. Somehow, the lower 1/4's never rusted out, but one door, & the front lwr spoiler mtg area had rust, along with rust all the way through the A-pillars. Having had quiite a few VanNuys builds come through here w California plates, they're not all super solid desert fresh, LOL.

Oh I wasn't disputing you. I've lived and junkyarded around Norfolk VA and in Portland Oregon and seen lots of rust. Just offering a second opinion.

I have a friend who drug a 73 TA in from the Oregon coast. Good rockers and floor pans but you could put your hand through the A pillars on both sides and at least 50% of the passenger side B pillar was gone. On the hood the sheet metal stiffening under the hood, all the low areas were rusted through and the hood just folded when he tried to open the hood. The hinges were frozen in the down position.

I don't think so.
From the 'Macho Registry' of Maxthe222

1978 Macho T/A #122

Last reported owner: Randy S.
Funnily enough, a Randy also once owned 1978 #122. Although we don’t have any great or current photos, Randy S. from Utah apparently owned 1978 #122 when he was a teenager, and it seems it was a Cameo White/Carmine Red Macho with no hood decal. His father had made him sell the car after his 5th speeding ticket for $4500 many decades ago. He recalls that someone in the next town over painted the entire car a maroon color as the police seemed to have recognize the car and expected the same troublemaker to be driving it! This seems like the last anyone’s heard of Macho #122. Interestingly, this one appeared to have standard vinyl 74R Carmine Red interior, when most Machos had deluxe interiors. This one hasn’t resurfaced, so hopefully we can find more information on this one.
