Default Camshaft runout

So last nite I was watch a video by Powel machine shop.He was showing how often camshafts get runout and went on to straightened a hyd roller that had .005 ro.He peened it a few times and got it to within in .0005.So the 1st thing I did this morning was check my hyd roller and it to was .004 on the center journal when sitting on my V blocks .So I convinced myself into peening at it to get it straightened .At first I was hitting the high spot and noticed ro getting worst. So started hitting low spot and finally got it almost dead nuts.I had fun doing this

Runout does some crazy stuff to the cams profile. Sometimes it is so bad I wonder how the engine even ran.

If you have ever seen how much a steel roller can will rap up and unwind length wise from front to rear due to spring pressure it’s no wonder they go .004” to .005” out.
