Had 2 different knobs in front than in the back. Chrome was excellent. So I switched knobs with tools below. And it is permanent and they won't fall off after use. Just like original. I tried to type up procedure but got kick off before done. Anyone wants to know just pm me.

When you look at the original crank handle, the knob is small die cast piece (plastic cover over it) with a shaft that sticks thru the crank. Then a small wave washer, on top of that a small flat washer, then the head of the shaft is mushroom over.
The knob rotates and also rocks in a little due to the wave washer. I take a flat blade screw driver and rock the knob to let the screw driver under the flat washer and start prying the washer up. Keep rotating and prying. Eventually it pops the mushroom area off. Careful as you need the wave washer when you put it back together. Watch out as it can fly apart. I usually put my thumb over it when it's ready to pop.

With the knob off, save the wave washer as it gives the knob its little bit of spring when assembled.
There is a starter hole in the shaft end of the knob. I take a #29 drill bit and by hand with battery drill slowly drill approximately. 3/4" deep. Carefully not to drill thru the knob plastic but deep enough that your into the plastic. When starting the drill it will go crooked a few times. Just back it out as it will waller around until you get the hole started straight. Hold it straight and it should follow the hole. Net take an #8-32 tap and tap as deep as possible. Tap by hand. Needs tapped into plastic as this will hold the pan head machine screw locked in so it won't turn as you crank the window up or tighten as you crank it down. Kind of like a nylon insert lock nut.

Next take the modified knob, put it into the new crank handle. Put on the wave washer, then a 1/4" new flat washer. Not all flat washer are the same. If your lucky it will fit on the shaft as there is a landing that it has to go over. If not you may have to put the new 1/4" flat washer and put it in a vice and drill it out to .280-.290" dia. The closer you keep it to the shaft the less wouble you will have.
Next put a pan head 8-32 x 1/2" machine screw in it. The knob should wouble all over. Take out the screw. Pushing in the knob and looking at the new flat washer, the shaft should be just a few thousands over this height. Take a flat file and file the shaft down. Assemble machine screw and try again. The wouble should be less. Keep trying until you get the right height. Sneak up on it. It may take 4-5 tries. The die cast pot metal is soft and files easy. You need a file card or wire brush to clean yor file. When you get it to the right height it will feel just like the stock crank. The pan head machine screw is just like the mushroomed part of the stock crank. The plastic will keep the screw from coming loose or tightening up. If necessary you can put lock tight on the threads to lock it in. Practice on junk cranks until you get the hang of it. This is what worked for me. Now all my knobs look the same.
