I have a 1990 Chevy pick up truck. It’s one of those goofy light duty 2500 series. Has a 14 bolt 9.5 ring gear. Going to replace the axle seals, but I want to have the parts before I tear it apart. Does that have a taper race and bearing, or a sealed type straight cut bearing?
Looking on line is not helping much. Thanks

have you tried asking for help on a site like gmt400.com ?
There tends to be a lot of activity there, and someone there should be able to tell you what you need. I have bought parts for my 1992 K1500 from both Rockauto and LMC - As I am guessing you are aware, both sources will sell you wrong stuff, so you have to do your own due dilligence...

Bill, here's a link to a video for a complete rebuild on a 9.5 single rear wheel, semi floater, 14 bolt GM axle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RthfIzzBckM&t=33s The axle bearings and seals are similar in construction to a 10 bolt car axle. Standard roller bearings that the axle shaft rides on, and an outboard seal that reside in the end of the axle tubes. Axles are retained by horseshoe locks that require the spider gear shaft be removed. I hope this may be helpful........

/\ square bodies (as far as the trucks are concerned) are 1973-1987;
I’m not sure if the rear end for a late square body is the same as a GMT400. LINK
