Yeh I think the full ones you posted , and the ones in the Red 73 , are originals.
Maybe galvanized or plated steel.

The one out of my car was brass or something non-corrosive
With a small bolt and a bracket.
Owner was a mechanical engineer , maybe over-thought the replacements.
A rubber plug would have probably worked better.

My guess is he removed them periodically and flushed out the drop offs.
Was very meticulous about the car.
Car didn't have a speck of rust anywhere.
Not even around the back glass or windshield.
Until that pimple started

Those pictures I linked on the auction (with empty holes) were of a 74 SD
Carpet tag and dash date pictures from same car too.
It had 90k miles on it.

I really think someone very cunning swapped the carpet tag onto a new carpet.
It's just staples holding them and they could be transfered by a sharp individual.
But it was a good sample pic.
