Sorry about your mom. Good on you for helping keep her at home. I did the same and out of everything i've ever done, its probably the thing i'm most proud of.

Received the diagnosis from TCI on my TH350 Streetfighter - Intermediate sprag fragmented and direct drum clutches slightly glazed. They're doing the converter inspection later today or tomorrow.

Communication has been great and the people have been sincere in rebuilding it to the necessary level with a step up to the 36 element sprag and heavy duty drum, so no complaints with that aspect. Just disappointed that a unit rated up to 575 horsepower failed on an engine with 453. I've always felt better about seeing a transmissions torque capacity instead of a horsepower rating.

Hopefully the converter will still be fine.

When I got the 71 back from the registration inspection the exhaust was making a hellish leak noise. I did not have time before leaving for a trip back to the States but today I put it on jack stands for examination and realized that a bolt was missing from the outlet flange - WTF?

Seems here they pull apart things for whatever reason - cannot fathom what they think they will find (Customs inspection was a few months ago...).

Today was "Rotation Day". With a 4 stall double deep garage everything has to come out to get at the car on dollies tucked in the far corner. The Firebird was in the corner on dollies and the Grand Prix (winter DD) had to go back there. I did get to drive all of the Pontiacs today so I guess that is a good thing.

My 62-year-old rear speaker in my '63 Bonneville convert has been buzzing something awful, making it impossible to enjoy my reverb (I have a Bluetooth receiver/FM transmitter which I use to relay Pandora or XM to my factory AM/FM). Elektro-Tech was out of stock on replacement 6" round speakers for a while, and when they finally came in, the Bonneville was laid back up in the shop for the winter (long story for a different post).

Anyway, today was the day for the speaker swap. Ugh. I forgot what an ordeal it is/was to get to the speaker box behind the rear seat (I misremembered getting to it through the trunk).

Point to remember: the factory speaker leads have a male spade connector for ground and a female for hot, and the Elektro-Tech uses only female spade connectors on the wires. Minor wrinkle, but nothing insurmountable.

On the upside, the new speaker sounds great (for what it is; I'm not comparing it to the Bose sound system I have in my STS - LOL).

...and to Nuclear Envoy, my sincere condolences on your loss. They are truly never with us long enough, and all too often, it takes us far too long to get to the point of appreciating them as we should. I'm glad that you could make her last years comfortable, at least. Take some solace in that.

Got my 78 TA ready for tomorrow. Every Friday I have breakfast with a few friends. I am the youngest of the group by 15 years and I’m 57. Anyways, one of the oldest (80+) has stage 4 cancer and recently put into hospice. Tomorrow I am picking him up and we will take the 78 for a cruise to breakfast and ride around awhile after breakfast.

That’s me every time I drive one of my old cars. I have a 4 car garage, but only 1 overhead door. Whatever is in front of the door gets driven, until I rotate!
My wife daily driver was in the body shop this past week, so my wife drove my truck, and I gave my ‘62 Mercury daily driver status for the week. I wouldn’t want to take the ‘55 to work daily anyway. Way to dirty of an environment.

Took the Goat down to the school shop to finish the new leaf springs on the Ventura. Cole's been fighting with them since last week's shop night. We were able to knock them out pretty quick together. The old driver's side spring was bent causing the car to not sit level and the shackle bushings were completely roached. I took a gamble on some cheap Summit brand springs and they worked out pretty well in combo with an OER hardware and bushing kit. The car has a little bit of a rake to it now.

We also installed a new fan clutch since the old one was blown and he boiled over the other day. His radiator had a leak too, but some stop leak seems to have cured it for now until he can spring for a replacement.

A few quick other tasks were a new dome light housing and new sail panel arrowhead emblems. We'll get the rest of the interior installed this weekend in prep for the school shop show is on Sunday.

I moved the '26 to the other side of the garage and dusted it off. Weather's beginning to get nice enough to drive it some.

Got the rest of the interior installed in the Ventura yesterday and did a little tweaking on the carb since it was running lean. By the time I was done, I ended up with jets 6 sizes larger than stock! Way more than I would have expected, but it's a lot happier now and might even want a little more.

This morning was the end of year show at the school shop today. We brought the Goat and his car. As a surprise, I made Cole a board with a bunch of pics from the various projects we worked on this year. Folks got a chuckle out of the "lima bean" nickname for the Ventura. I think my wife came up with that.
