Just curios, on the 68-69 view the bolt holding the mount to the block has a spacer between the bolt head and the mount. Any idea what the purpose for this was? Thanks!

I do not know the purpose of the spacers they used on the 67 OHC-6's, all of my 67 Tempest and Lemans's had them, as does my current 67 Sprint FB. The only thing I cancome up with was a way to use an existing Bolt in the assembly plants? But now you have to have the spacer available also.
I don't remember any of the three 1969 Sprints I owned has having the spacers, 2 Firebirds, and a Tempest. If someone has a better answer I am all ears. It could be as simple as an easier way to torque the bolts on the assembly line to save a few seconds of assembly time.

Thumbs up EASE OF ACCESS ON STANDARD SHIFT MODELS

Exactly what they were for.
It seems they found the mount bolts on the MT cars a bit harder to reach so they swapped in longer bolts with spacers.

Interesting. I have a 69 motor from a Lemans that has the spacers and always wondered what the purpose was. The car had a manual transmission.
