Anyone have something in print that shows a new 64-65 tri power GTO built in California can be sold by a dealer outside California without the 614 Closed PVC system? Fremont built, then shipped to another dealer not in California.
THANKS "Bill"! |

No documentation, but my 64 was built in Fremont and sold to the zone office in Oklahoma and PHS does not indicate closed system

Hi Andre. I guess you don't have the build sheet? Would you post a picture of the PHS, please?
How long has it been since you flew in to Chicago for the Indian Uprising? 2017 or 18. I appreciate your help!!!! bill |

Here's a 65 GTO buildsheet that went to Washington State dealer, but not a Tripower.

I definitely have the build sheet. I will dig it up. As for the Chicago show, it seems like most of my summers are being spent touring places that I never dreamed I would be able to go to. However this year we committed to attending Tri power nationals. I will be searching for the metal baffles that are on 64-67 ac cars, which are unique to 64, 65, and 66-7. I have had sets of 66-7, but only seen the '64s in pictures.

Fremont sent cars to lots of states.
They never had to put emissions or restrict cars by California rules if they went to other dealers in other states. 4bbl and 3x2 would live under the same rule , but I know you would like to see defacto 3x2 samples. My 79 400 4spd TA was built in Van Nuys Cali and went to a Louisiana dealership. California dealers could not get that engine trans combo at all , but Van Nuys could build them. It wasn't Cali compliant . Just a whatnot factoid |

Yes they did not install CA emissions for cars sold out of state, here is info for a Fremont car 64 that was sold in Washington to avoid the CA emission then driven to CA as the owner lived there. My 65 Fremont car that was sold at Seifert Pontiac in Colorado and My 64 Fremont car sold at Weld County in Colorado all without emissions parts.

Kinda tough to decipher some of post #10, but sounds like good information.
The option #614 on 64,65,66 GTO’s could go either way. 1) Built in Fremont, but specified w/o 614 for sale out of California. 2) Or on the other hand a customer could specifically order the 614 option to be added at another plant, such as the car below built at Baltimore and sold new in Virginia. A long time good friend of mine ordered this Black on Blue ‘65 and wanted to contribute to cleaner air. Roger That ! |

Some time back ,someone posted an original window sticker of a 65 built in Fremont , sent to Colorado , with 614 closed system.
Another cleaner air conscious buyer. If more people would use it on their 3x2 cars maybe the price would come down on the repop parts. It's not a bad idea and it was mandated in 68 model year. |
