I was watching the forum performance in the very early morning hours today. The forum performance is certainly tied to the number of "guests". The number of "guests" was fluctuating wildly, from around 1,000 to 8,000. So it looks like something is fighting back against the invasion. Performance was much better when the guest numbers were in the low range.

I don't have a functioning Windows OS device currently.
Might go to library sometime before long and load a mIRC script on one of their machines and see if it will come on this site. Wouldn't really be able to do anything about it without OP or Admin status , but could see what these "guests" look like by their IP's. If a mIRC will come on here , it could handle these gobblers. Edit 1721 Guests currently , so it's staying well below the previous 20,000+ |

There is software out there to help remove bot scrapers out there, but I don't know if that also eliminates search engines as well. Could be a double edged sword, but I don't know how how much of our traffic comes from search engines anyway. I know I direct a lot of my customers here, but I don't know if they join or not.

Very fast response for me today, yet 6500 "guests", real or virtual.
So based on my own sample of 2, there's no correlation between guests and response time. I remain grateful for the improvement. |

One day I noticed the street section had 421 viewers. Then the next day it was 389 viewers.. true story.

Google is the worst thing out there. Invasive as a hell too. Even worse since they took over YouTube.
Now I see this site scanning by Zero Phishing to Verify when you make a reply. No idea why. It's never done that before. Hope fully it's by our admin to keep the riff raff out.
