Any help greatly appreciated. If restamp, why would someone restamp the year on the date code of a one year only carb?????

I would call it legit .
The roll stamps would get heavier in certain areas sometimes.
295th day of 1969 = 1970 model year.

The last 9 is the only thing that looks weird.
Probably not quite as weird in person , or from other camera angles.
Digital pictures can make things look weirder than they are , and vice versa.

I haven't seen it in that section yet. Will go look.
There are several other things you can verify on the carb besides the stampings.

Went and looked there.
Kenth knows them very very well so you are getting good feedback.

Main center body is legit , but they added a vacuum port on front passenger side to accommodate an automatic transmission modulator valve application.

Lid and Base are wrong.
Extremely typical of a RA carb that has been through a remanufacturer company after being turned in as a core.

Someone redrilled the throttle plate holes in the primaries.
Those companies always throw them away and put solid plates back in them.
They use any Lid and Base that will interchange.,,,, mass production.
They don't itemize parts as they disassemble , they go into general groupings of Lids , Bodies and Bases .

When done it goes into a box with a part number that will cover any 68-69-70 application whether manual or automatic .

More than likely all the jets rods and hanger are incorrect for RA original carb.
They change all of that to midstream pieces.

FrankenCarb , but main body has the most value in any case.
