Guys, (reposting from suspension tech)

I just inherited a 65 wagon that someone did a brake job on that included a new master cylinder and booster. The pedal is all the way up and if you breath on it, it will put you through the windshield. I took it all apart and it was a bit "Mickey Moused". Some bolts were missing and dust cover on the back of booster. So im assuming the booster should be spaced forward a bit to give the pedal some play? By this, there should be spacers between the angled firewall brackets and the booster to push the booster forward a bit? It looks like the booster mounting studs are long enough to take spacers? I have a push rod space setting tool to set the spacing of the post booster to master cylinder rod...

Or could it be the incorrect booster? Could it be for a disc brake car? I had the same thing 20 or more years ago when sending out my 63 GP booster to Dewey for rebuild and when received it back, it did the same thing.. I do believe he just sent me another and it worked fine (cant remember).. Could this 65 have the wrong booster or as it that its just set up incorrectly (like the rest of the car LOL...
Driving me nuts.

122 views of my post and nobody has any idea if I could have the wrong booster or is it should be spaced out from the firewall?

I answered this else where. Is the booster push rod in the lower of the 2 mounting holes on the arm for the brake pedal? Several inches down from the pivot point. The push rod should be threaded to adjust the length so you don't need to space out the booster. If there are too many threads shorten the rod don't move the booster.

There are 2 different boosters. Delco and Bendix and you may have a mis-matched master/booster combination.
