For feedback, I purchased the Polar White welting for my 70 TA and haven't gotten around to using it yet. Over the weekend we took it out of the package and it matched up very nicely on a friend's freshly painted Polar White TA. Nice product!

WELTING UPDATE 5/6/2024:

I have completed the samples for Martinique Blue and Goldenrod (to the best of my ability) and have submitted them for production(see the final samples below). I should have color approvals in about 4 to 5 weeks and production, if approved in 10 to 12 weeks. Martinique has now claimed the title of the most difficult color to duplicate so far. The photo below shows the final color chip next to a part, from a one owner garage kept car that was in an accident. I hope you all will be happy with my match.

I am still working on Atlantis Blue Metallic and now have access to an original one owner car that is having a freshen up including some paint work. I will get a sample from the spray-out for that car, but it will be a while for the car to
be an active project.

In the meantime, I have also run across original paint samples and cars for both Firethorn Red and Carousel Red (See below). So, I am beginning the process of trying to match those as well. If all works out as planned, I should be adding 4 to 5 colors to my offering this year. Thanks again to everybody who helped and supported my efforts.

WELTING UPDATE 6/23/2024:

The Pre-Production Run Sample approvals arrived for Martinique Blue and Goldenrod. They look good to me. I will approve them in the morning, and I am being told that production will take 4 to 5 weeks to be completed and arrive at my location. I will post here when the Ebay Listings go active.

Thanks,

James Andrews

Default Martinique Blue is a Winner

I can vouch for the Martinique Blue welting from James.. I am the original owner of my Norwood built '78 TA. The paint is original and the car has been garage kept since new and under a cover for all but the first couple of years. The Martinique Blue welting is a great match to my car and I am thrilled to have been able to get it. The original welting is deteriorating. Thanks James!!

Finally got the new welting installed on one of my 70 TA's. Great color match, and it's really nice to work with. Very pliable and it lays in really nice. A couple pics with it installed. One down, one to go!

John

Edit: I guess you gotta lay down to look at the pics properly. Oh well, you get the idea.

James... Don't know if you're still doing this but I'd really be interested in your colored welting. If so please put me down for Firethorn Red. Thx.. Larry Wanner

3M Super Weather-strip Adhesive Black Not working

the problem is after apply very thing coating and wait about 3 minutes and reapply another very thing coating and wait about 24 hours the welting came apart not really glued, in the upper tips is the worst because the welting make 45 degrees in front and almost 95 degrees rear.

But surprise i clean again the flares and welting and use regular Krazy Glue with only few drops on the tips works in less than 2 minutes

started from the upper tips and glued only from the inside part of the flare with out bended the welting and wait about 5 minutes

and after bended and use very thin line all long from the inside part of the flare and glued perfectly with no mess at all.

after few days the welting still strong glued on the flares and the tips perfectly done that is the hard part, Just my experience Thanks
I have a new set of Danko spoilers painted and ready to install on my 70 TA. Is crazy glue still the preferred method for adhering the welting to the spoilers?

Any input is appreciated!

The krazy glue may work fine. After I did as much research as I could on the subject I ended up using the 3M Plastic and Emblem adhesive. It worked out great and the spoilers have been back on the car for almost a year now.

I used painters tape to hold the glued welting down the length of the spoiler and let that dry for a few hours, and then formed the bends on each end, trimmed, glued and taped the same way, and let that dry overnight.

Turned out great IMO and they've been back on the car for close to a year.

This welting is nice and pliable and GREAT to work with! Perfect Polar White color match too!

John
