Well John I just looked at my core support and it is flat on the bottom, not curved, and it measures ABOUT 21-7/8" from the top of the rail to the bottom of the radiator support.

So it missed the 22-1/4" dimension (by about .375" short from your dimension).

I just assumed that because it was not 22-1/4" that it was the shorter one.

Not sure of build date, so posting a picture of vin and data plate. Hopefully nobody steals them.

Looking at the second picture I can where a slight assembly change in the complicated parts could throw my dimensions off somewhat.

Agree it would be a marketing decision on releasing the modded kit but at the end of the day could allow more cooling with the upper and lower tanks swapped onto the taller core (especially if the core had a higher Circle Track fin count like 17 fins per inch). Sorry for the confusion. I look at the car usually only when John V asks me to verify something these days. No real room to work on it.

Tom, thanks for checking, all is right in the world again!

Lemans64, just so you know, your Fremont built Lemans shows a Time Built code on the Data plate of 2B, this decodes as:

2 = Feb
B = 2nd week of the month

Nobody really knows what calendar dates were represented by the 2nd week of any given month but for our purposes, generally this pins it down close enough.

The 1st character 8 in the VIN confirms that it was a V8 build, 6 cyl Tempests would have a 1st character 6 in the VIN.

If you have the PHS doc for your car, it would list the specific engine option, 2 bbl 326 or 4 bbl 326.

The Fremont Doc will also show the "DATE PRODUCED" and the "SCHEDULE NO. AND DATE".

Not certain if the DATE PRODUCED is the date it rolled off the Final Assembly line or perhaps the date it started final assembly, but again, as close a Birthday date as you can possibly get for your Lemans.

alrighty then. Thank you very much John! I guess I wasn't so far off.

Anyway, what's great here is that the topic starter and anyone else interested in extra cooling capacity has some good options proposed here.

Our plan is to move forward on the lower ac support area and include all the holes and brackets to make the conversion as original as possible.

Excellent, I will put one in my Le Mans Race Car when you get them made.

Stumbled into this thread looking for pictures.
I think where some confusion gets in the mix is just saying "64"

If we say 64 GTO specifically - all of those got the taller radiator .
With the accompanying radiator support known as the "AC Rad Supt. " with the lower support rail actually being a trough shaped channel.
Even if the car was Non-AC

Non-AC V8 Tempest/LeMans got the shorter radiator , the lower support rail being a raised rail.
The pictures posted by mrgto69 of the bottom rails illustrate the effect.

Correct 64 GTO Radiator Supports / 64 AC Radiator Supports have always been difficult to locate in nice condition. It was a great project to reproduce those bottom trough rails.

The same holds true for the 65 , and 66-67 AC Radiator supports.
Harder to find.
The trough modification parts will work on all of them 64-67.

I don't think you will need the bigger radiator if you buy a quality aluminum replacement for yours. I have a 1967 GTO with a supercharged 428 and have used the short radiator since 1999. It NEVER runs hot. I am using a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee electric fan to cool it.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Has anyone successfully made the extended core support mod? I think I need the bigger radiator to finally finish of my temp creep.
