One of our '64's has sloppy fit for the vent window "cranks." It appears that the problem is not with the male shaft from the vent window frame, but from the diecast "crank" that swivels to lock the window. The female bore in the "crank" is worn, allowing them to fall off even with the roll pin in place. Do the repro's fit decently?

Also, is there a trick to installing the "acorn" chrome trim on the outside of the seat "hockey puck" trim? Mine keep falling off.

Hey Dick. For the little chrome caps that hold the bottom of the hockey stick to the seat frame you can use a socket that is just big enough to fit over the body of the cap but small enough that it catches on the lip at the bottom of the cap. Then you can tap the socket to drive the cap onto the shaft. Put an extension on the socket if you’re worried about missing and whacking the hockey stick trim. You can wrap the cap with masking tape or use a piece of thin cloth to protect the chrome on the cap during this procedure.

Both these inner "hockey sticks" are in need of replacement. I see Ames has them now for '64 and '65. The ones on my other '64 were from Corvair Central. Corvairs used the same "hockey sticks."

I went through three sets of aftermarket vent window “cranks” as I lost my originals during the vent rebuild. All three sets fit nicely on the die cast stud however, on two of the sets the roll pin holes didn’t line up. I’m guessing same manufacturer though different vendor. On the third set the roll pin lined up but it was very tight and I could hardly move the crank. I found a pair of NOS and plug and play. Others may have had a better experience with the aftermarket cranks.
