Default beware this member....fraudster

this member PMd and emailed me after i responded to a for sale item, posing as either a friend of the seller or the seller themselves suggesting i communicate with to another email address and asking for my address for shipping costs. i didn;t reply to either as it seemed very fishy. i'm sure they were hoping i would bite & send them money...a few members have posted as a vistor in their profile warning of the same.

i can't find a way to alert the forum mods...

Click on the triangle with the exclamation point in it to notify mods. It’s at the top right of your post.

I suspended/banned that member last night after I saw him sending private messages with no other kind of interaction on the forums.

Unfortunately it seems suspended members can still send private messages I’m pretty sure.

Either way put on your thinking caps and use your brains, that way you will never fall for any scammers.

We cannot protect you from scammers nor is it our duty, only you as members are responsible for that.

Banned.

FAFO

Anyway, buying and selling anywhere on the internet has some risk involved.

If you’re not thinking you’ll get taken, if you’re thinking you’ll never get scammed.

Bman why don’t we require a certain (high) number of posts before someone can post a classified add?

Or if. There’s a way to respond to a wanted add. Like can’t send a PM until you have 50 posts. Or something. Some other sites I’m on do this …

Sorry but any forum software changes that have been suggested numerous times before won’t be happening. The forum software is way, way outdated and there won’t be any money invested to upgrade it.

Be grateful for what we do have here and just roll with it.
