Default 15 vs 17 inch wheels

I just "inherited" a mostly original '67 Bonneville with a 428 cid and a 4 speed. It needs a good cleaning, a few modern upgrades and TIRES.

Since I hate re-doing things I figure get the wheels and tires done now. My primary concern is fitment with the fender skirts and possibly upgrading the brakes to discs in the future.

I have reviewed previous (10 year old) posts and although there's a lot of good information it still left me hanging. So, what works best, 15s or 17s, with 7in or 8in widths?
