Hello!

So the windshield wipers are stuck on in our 1975 Pontiac Grandville. Any clue how to easily fix or disable? Or do I have to disable the switch by pulling the dash? Thanks

I do have a shop manual for it.

Also any pointers on a replacement switch or part to fix the problem would be appreciated!

Wipers normally have 12 volt power all of the time. The wiper switch supplies the ground. When turned off the parking switch keeps the wipers moving until they reach the park position. I am betting it is the parking switch in the motor.

I pulled the fuse for the motors to temporarily disable them so the car is at least usable (without scraping up the windshield). I’ll have to look into that at some point. It’s my dad’s car, I just help him out a bit. Thanks!!

Hello, one more question; does this involve a replacement/rebuild of the motor or is it something easily fixable?

The switch is probably interior to the wiper motor. See if you can find a shop manual for the car. Trying to find wireing diagram online I saw a replacement motor for $78.00

Probably a bent copper contact that allows for it to run vs go hidden. Take off the plastic cover of wiper motor, and you might even see the issue.
A pair of gloves, or tube socks on the wipers can help in this trouble shooting phase.good luck!

Thank you!! I’ll look into it, might not be for a while since it’s my dad’s car (I just try to fix them lol) and I’m leaving for college in less than a week. Guess I know what I’ll be doing on my break lol.

I did pull the fuse so it’s off at least, my blind self missed the fuse clearly labeled “WIPERS” in the fuse box haha. Thanks again!!
