So i was looking at the cables the positive cable is tiny compared to the ground cable plus I'll change the starter. The battery doesn't look old but it's only a 700 cca.

I had same problem with my 63,and 421 in late 60s.i go out where guys were street racing stop the car.Short time tried starting it,nope good battery. Cooled off started right up.The starter bushings were egg shaped. Then I learned how to install new bushings. No problems then.

trash that old starter and put a mini-starter in with at least 2 awg cables on both the pos and neg posts. I use 1/0 gauge in mine.

I bought a rebuilt starter and put 2 gauge cables on.

Generally speaking where peak torque occurs is where detonation is most likely. In that area I'm more careful with total timing and a little richer in fuel, then add timing and less fuel after that. That's where EFI and timing control is nice as I can tweak this area. You can see it on your ve table. All my tuning at the track and dyno are at sea level but I live at high elevation. Although higher elevation tolerates more timing and wants less fuel I generally don't touch the tune because I frequent lower elevations and race down there anyway so I just find it easier to leave alone. It's not like they get stupid rich at 6000 feet anyway and a pinch more timing won't bring all the power back you lose at elevation anyway. Wow that's a rough starter, you got your money out of that thing. LOL
14.2 AFR idle here, roughly 22 degrees timing, don't need to get greedy and burn up valves and also we're assuming each cylinder is getting the proper air and fuel which is never the case, rather error slightly rich than lean.
