i was curious to look this up, but i’ve been busy enough all day that i couldn’t dig out my period literature till now;
The deluxe 1972 brochure (NOT a GM of Canada brochure), on the rear cover it shows the standard lemans (except for station wagon) tire is E78-14 (black wall);
It shows the Lemans sport option uses the same standard tire.
There is no mention of another tire size for the Lemans line in this brochure.

Incase it’s worth mentioning;
The standard tire on the GTO is a G70-14 black wall tire.

EDIT:

I also have the 1972 accessories brochure;
It shows that the GT option includes a G70-14 white letter tire.

I also happen to have two different print dates of the “1972 Pontiac accessorizer and selling facts”;
Looking at my ‘Effective date: January 13, 1972 ‘
book, I can see the following;
Lemans and Lemans Sport:
F78-14 white lettered
G78-14 black
G78-14 white lettered
G70-14 white lettered
GTO:
G70-14 white lettered
G60-15 white lettered
