Anyone used one of these? Does it allow you to use less sand? Man just doing a rear end I used 3 bags of sand on my sandblaster.

I had a local guy do dustless blasting on my rearend he said he uses recycled glass. Don’t know how much he uses but it came out very nice. It was $100 with with one day turnaround.

i used a cardboard refrigerator box to catch most of the sand and then strained it back in to the blaster.

The time and amount of sand my plain bucket kit uses is a lot. Small spray area.

I'm not an expert. I have messed around with some sandblasters over the years. I will say that trying different air pressure can help. Start around 40 PSI and work your way up. Air pressure is about the only adjustment the simple bucket style blaster has.

What type of abrasive are you using?

Sandblasters are deceptively simple but, the details to make them effective and efficient are complex. That's why cheap ones are $30 dollars and expensive ones are $30,000.

Water jet blasters make dust control easy. In addition they give your grit a boost as wet media is heavier than dry media so it looses less momentum between the end of the nozzle and the work surface. Which can help or hurt depending on what you trying to accomplish.

I believe. OP is asking about Pressure washer sand blasters.
Not regular media blasters.

Pros and Cons to pressure washer/sandblasters from what I've read.
Pros: Fast, easy, dustless
Cons: The pressure washer MUST have enough GPM (gallons per minute) [relate it to an air compressor, even a pancake air compressor can generate 150 psi but won't have enough SCFM to run a DA], the muddy spoils are very difficult to get out of tight cervices (TWSS)

Used the 3000 psi pressure washer with the sand blast tip to blast this sub frame. Removed tar and old caked on grease better than just sand blasting but will flash rust afterwards. Used more sand than dry sandblasting. After it was broken down it was dry blasted. Normally use a pressure pot blaster at around 100 psi for heavy parts such as frames, axles and suspention pieces. One to two 50# bags of sand should do a rear axle.

Thanks for the input guys. I wondered about the flash rust using a water blaster. Here in Houston even a dry blasted rear end flash rusts after a while!

So, I have done plenty of dustless blasting with a pressure washer adapter. I use a 3400 psi Pressure washer, BUT, I bought a 40+ gallon.plastic juice concentrate jug, drilled hole near bottom on side and mixed my own water. Used a 12 volt pump to get it to the pressure washer.
The most IMPORTANT thing to know is " HOLD TIGHT 102" WHICH I put in the water. Its not cheap but it eliminates flash rrusting.crushed glass. Uses about 7 bags to do a bare shell.
Check humidity outside, if its over 50$ you can get flash rust even if you do it dry, so gotta get parts rinsed ( wax and grease remover) and in a place they can dry.
