Yes it is easily done. Been there done that. Get a white lightning shifter for the TKX you buy. Buy from American Powertrain.

AVOID SST/SILVERSPORT!! They cut the tail housing side off for their goofy proprietary shifter assembly which is pure garbage and rattles. And then you are screwed if you wish to go to another brand or style shifter.

Nah man. But it will look completely stock once installed.

Just be sure to get a round official new HURST chrome shift stick for $135 as the repop stick the retailers include or sell with the kit is generic junk.

For my TKO600 I had to raise the top of the tunnel on my 66 lemans. I hear the TKX will fit without issue though... at least major issues.

Just did a TKX swap from an automatic in July on a '66 LeMans 326, with the engine in the car. I used the Silver Sport kit with a McLoud clutch, flywheel and manual linkage. It came with a bunch of Ames restoration parts and I ordered a repop manual console from Ames. I had to buy a pilot bushing and adjustable dowel pins. It was an automatic car so I had to machine a pilot bushing down a few thousands. I used Lakewood adjustable dowel pins which I also had to machine down so they would rotate. The Ames pedal bushings were too sloppy, so I made those also from steel tube. I had to reshape the tunnel at the back of the trans. The repop shift hump needed major tweaking. The TKX sits too high for a factory console boot. So I made my own seal for the floor and used a leather boot from amazon to hide the ugly. The shift lever bolt heads hit the console bezel, so I had to offset the console on the hump, only a quarter inch to the left. The trans was locked between gears which is common, just address it before you install it, it's easy. Overall easy swap, took about 80 hours.
