Break out your favourite old tour shirt and your bank account. Rush is going on tour in 2026. I admit that I will likely overspend to see them here in their hometown. The drummer, a woman, has some big shoes to fill. It seems that with a dearth of good new music, practically every concert that I go to nowadays is some kind of reunion tour.

Personally, I like that they talked to Neil's family for their blessing, said they don't want to be Rush 2.0, and just want to have fun. I know nothing about the drummer, but have seen a few Rush cover bands, and it appears a few folks out there can cover Neils stuff pretty darn well, (constructing new parts, would be a whole other story, but not for this discussion) Closest they get to me is MSG, so I wont see them this time around.....maybe on the next swing, if it all goes well.

Cool that there's some overlap between Pontiac folks and Rush fans :-)
But yes Neil was one of the (if not the) greatest drummers of all time - he is irreplaceable. My son is a drummer too and it was too bad he wasn't old enough to see him live. Still would be happy to see Geddy and Alex one last time though.

That's great news.
The drummer choice is a little surprising , but they are more than satisfied with her ability on their songs during the initial experiment. It should be just fine. She has toured with Jeff Beck not too long ago, also. Anika Nilles originally from Germany |

I was in the Marines with a guy that was into Rush & hockey . No one could figure the guy out . I was convinced he was commie spy . So one night at the barracks , this cat is getting hammered on some kind of MooseKnuckle beer or whatever and wearing one of these hockey jersey things and then he let it slip - this SOB was from Canada ! We had been infiltrated. I think that he got traded for some Cuban cigars and shawarma sandwiches in Iraq , I can’t remember .

Neil Pert's wife and daughter both gave their approval of the shows and the drummer selection.
I would go to a show if they played the 2112 album start to finish , just for reliving the teenager with headphones pressed against my head aspect. Everybody who was anybody in the later 70s and 80s had the 2112 album. In other news , Gene and Paul of KISS recently sold all the the rights to KISS for $350 million. Trademark , logo , make up , music and publishing rights ... everything lock stock and barrel . |

Been a big Rush fan ever since Permanent Waves in 1980. Saw the R40 tour in Dallas in 2015. Geddy's voice may not be quite what it used to be, but the musicianship was 100% there. Awesome show! Will look into catching the 2026 tour here in Ft. Worth...

Big shoes to fill with Mr. Neil Ellwood Peart.
I fear they will be missing some of that early Rush magic. Glad I had seen them in their prime.

Molson Canadian Rocks July 2003 in Toronto with about 450,000 of our closet friends
Rush, The Guess Who, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC and many others . Some grainy but good footage of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and of course Neil Peart in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN8XgU4xlik https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCQU...&start_radio=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWNdI6P0M0Q They say Rush was the last band to be added to the lineup as they had not been on the road for months but they had to play at home. One of my all time favorite bands of my youth! I once saw them up close and in person when I was just 19 in Milwaukee (1980), and amazingly actually ran into them after the show when they stayed at the same hotel as us! Geddy was very talkative in the elevator ride, and appreciative of our comments on the great show.
Neil was very quiet… you could tell he just wanted to be left alone with his thoughts as he strolled around the darkened pool area at 1am! Good times though! My wife and I have seen them several times, and actually are going to a tribute band concert in Milwaukee a week from tonight. It’ll bee good I’m sure, but nothing like that original trio in their prime!
