Default Reproduction AC Delco tar top battery

Does anyone know if the AC Delco tar top battery is reproduced. I am trying to prep my car for the 2026 POCI nationals. The only one I have found is at Summit Racing, and it has MOPAR stamped on the top. Not cool. Or do you know if the judges deduct points for a battery topper.

I found a source for the reproduction battery. Look under the GM tab, then Pontiac. You can go by year and then look at the dimensions to match your battery. You can get the yellow caps with black lettering, or black caps with yellow lettering.

I've had an order in with Battery Central since Jan 20th and no word. Last contact I had with them was August

"Hi Eric,
We are still waiting on the DC12 cases. We hope they come in this year.
Thanks,

I've had my order in since November of last year. I'm starting to doubt they'll ever make them.

I've been using a topper for years and never had any deductions with POCI judging. I always seem to get hit for tires & shocks.

Thumbs up

Yes, it is.
To make my Faux Battery (Topper) look a little more correct, I cut down an old Delco Eye and replaced the solid one that comes with the topper.
I was using the R59, but that is incorrect for my Cammer, so I repainted the red to yellow for a closer to stock look. Even with this, I still did not get deductions last time showing.

Seems like a lot of specialty parts are like this now. They'll gladly take orders, but you might not ever see the parts.

I've been waiting on tires for almost a year now.

I run the battery topper and it looks good.

The yellow doesn’t look as bad as the red ones, an eye from the freedom topper fits rite in if you mill it out.

My 11 year-old repro R59 died this year. I could not find a new repro at that time so I purchased a group 24, thinking I would get a topper later. What I didn't know until I got the 24 home did I see it has the wrong shape top for a topper to fit.

Since then, I found a different repro (AGM) R59 manufacturer that I may order from.

I also saw a different manufacturer that makes a lithium version but I don't trust a big lithium battery in my '68 and in the garage.

I placed my order for a battery in November. I talked to BCM yesterday. They are waiting for the yellow caps with black lettering to complete my order. He said that they should have them in April. That is the last thing I need to prep the car for points judging at the POCI convention in Detroit. I hope I have the new battery by then. I did talk to the head judge, he said that a battery topper would be points deducted if the judges notice it is a topper.

That's good info on the judging of the battery topper, you just helped me save some money.

I'd run one of those obnoxious white and lime green Interstate batteries if I was gonna lose points anyway
