Hey all, so quick rundown 79 firebird original 301 w/ TH350 replaced with strokes 461 and TH400 and custom 3” x-pipe dual exhaust. I recently went to have my car inspected and the shop wouldn’t do it due to parking brakes cables not installed. Years ago I had a friends shop install new parts one being a new 4 wheel disc setup from SSBC (original was rear drum). If memory serves me correctly before they changed the brakes I had all the original parking brakes cables installed with engine trans combo and exhaust with no issues. Has anyone done this conversion and do you think a factory replacement kit, example, PKB-45 from Firebird Central would work or maybe I should order a universal kit from somewhere like Summit or Jegs ??

Why not contact SSBC and see what they say?

Agree best to call SSBC to ask if they sell a cable kit or what they suggest.
If the ssbc brakes use the OEM style caddy ratcheting calipers then the universal or year specific kits from firebird central will work... I have a set of the rear L/R lines Im selling for a fraction of new price that came from a 1980 TA with factory rear discs, one side seems a little longer than my original cables on a lower mile 81, but they did work ok on the 80. |

NAPA used to carry the factory 4WD cables.

Sorry meant cables, not lines.
