Default 73-77 sunroof owners LOOK HERE!!!!!!

Hello all, after recently cutting a complete power sunroof top off a 73 Grand Am, I did some internet research about new seals. I was told they are not available, don't put a sunroof in your car, some people have even sealed up the sunroof so they won't leak. This particlular sunroof was sealed with rtv too! At work last week I did some searching , and found some different cars that had sunroof seals available.... Then I found Phil Kmett ( www.montemania.com ) , he had seals for the Monte Carlo sunroof and other parts for sale that fit our cars!! I've been e-mailing him for a week, and it turns out he can get the correct seals for the Pontiac sunroofs!!! The monte Carlo sunroofs are a little smaller he said, but ask for the Pontiac version and you can get a NEW set for $185.00 front and rear. He can also get new switches, the 73-75 style is $115. NEW. Please tell him David with the Pontiac sent you, I told him I would announce on all the forums. I'm just amazed that he had only ONE call about them for Pontiacs....... I just figured I'd ask, and maybe get a name or something.... But this is great news! He is a one man show, so give him some time when buying stuff. That is all..... David

The "sunroof" in the opening post grabbed my attention as my SD trans am is also equipped with one as well.
GM partnered with ASC for the installations and there is a fellow who bought all the old parts inventory from them when he retired. I have been able to aquire the seals and rocker switch for my car from him.

Thanks Larry for yet another source. Your T/A is FANTASTIC! I have a friend that owns a 1970 Camaro with an ASC sunroof like yours. His was bought new in Las Vegas. I'm going to start tearing into mine soon, clean it up and figure out what I need besides seals and a switch. David

Thanks for the information. Over 20 years back I bought a roof out of a '73 Grand am and had it installed in my '69 GTO. Since then, I bought a few more just to have spare parts. Good to know I can get weatherstripping now.

Thanks for the post.

dblsprt68, Just Curious if you bought from Phil Kmett ? I see he has a couple seals I need, But he came back with Check or wire transfer only. My other half said don't do business with him, You'll be out your $250 and no parts will arrive. Odd he doesn't do CC or Paypal. What is your experience with Monte Mania ?

This is an old thread. dblsprt68 was last on the site on 4-16-2011 so I doubt he will reply.

If it's the pistolparts162 account he's got to be a scammer, only thing he's
done since registering is send private messages to folks with want ads.

I just bought sunroof seals for my 77 GP from Phil. Took some back and forth due to wrong seal size and length but he made good on it. I was a little skeptical myself, but it worked out well in the end.

Default sunroof seals

Phil does not know Pontiacs enough to sell sunroof parts. He may be good with Chevy (Monte Carlo), but not Pontiac.
