I really think the 70k buyer had extreme high hopes of an ice blasting miracle.
Definitely appeared to me it had been attempted.
The underside seemed to have a different appearance than Round 1.

WOB's website offers ice blasting service.

I figure the owner lost around 20k all-in.
And was lucky it got 59 after a 52

Maybe new owner will keep it and make some improvements.

I neer saw the curve ball coming. I was just commenting on the bidding was more believable this time when he posts the reserve was off. Should have only gone to 48-50K. I believe it is a 40-5K car. Had it been a 4 speed, the bidding would have been good.

The underside photos blow the lid off the mileage.
That's not Norwood primer and not a speck of Red overspray underneath.

The previous intentional incorrect gauge setting on paint readings negate factory paint.

Yeah once I looked at underneath again yesterday and saw the rear floor plugs painted that oxide primer color I was like no way. And where did the original steering wheel go while we are at it. Ha

One of the rear floor pans has had repairs , yet it's all the same finish.
The previous seller didn't post well lit underbelly pictures like there are now on the outdoor lift.

It's a real nice restored car with 118,000 miles
150k wouldn't be out of line.

John, do you have proof that the X-N110xxx came from the factory with a 4 speed?


This auction ends tomorrow. Another one trying to say low mileage when you can see the odometer numbers don't line up in the front. And, what's with the number 5 in the 395816 on trim tag (almost all will have a 0 in that position and a high number for the build to go out on that day)? 03C (15th-21st) and a ship date of 3-15 (Friday), mighty tight. Carburetor is an early one because they held off on 4 speeds until the Borg-Warner transmissions came out (i don't do BaT anymore to comment).

You're right Mike, that N110xxx is not 4sp. (probably thinking earliest SDTA I have)
Earliest 4sp would be N139xxx. (which could be this one)

Baron, see if you can get the dates off the Honeycomb rims ( https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=883569 ). His car was assembled a day before my Formula ( forums.maxperformanceinc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=873846 ). Approx. 220 VIN units, but almost 10,000 body units earlier. His front license plate holder is also a '70-2 unit, not '73.
Dennis' SD was probably built the day after this one too.

Window sticker indicates spare should be full size Honeycomb. Space Saver and label were added. Also, emissions decal is incorrect for SD engine. Can't really get a handle on Formula steering wheel being correct. Master cylinder was replaced. A whole lot of little things are quickly adding up to lose money in the end.

I'm still not convinced it wasn't in an accident. Can he show the stamping from the fenders? More driver side than passenger side (area circled in red)...
Hopefully he kept the replaced alternator.
