Default What are good choices for online buy/sell platforms?

What do you guys like for online car shopping? It seems that Craigslist is soooo 10 years ago. I ditched FB years ago, but it seems like their marketplace has taken over from CL. Then there is ebay, BaT, etc.

At some point in the future I want to get a 77-81 2nd gen Firebird, and make a daily driver out of it. Not looking for rare or restored.

And out of curiosity, what parts of the country provide the happiest hunting grounds? Here in AZ, sheetmetal is good, but interiors are disintegrated. It seems like everything here is either complete trash, or too high end/pricey.

I love FB Marketplace!

My last 5 cars have been purchased from there, including the 57 T-Bird hiding in my trailer right now as it is my Wife's Christmas present.

I have purchased all kinds of other stuff on it as well: Pallet Racking, fire wood & recently a pair of traffic lights I am going to hang on each end of my building when it warms up a bit.

God Bless
Bill

Still use good old Craigslist with great results.
Bought and sold many many PC's and auto parts, not 1 bad experience.
I started in 1999.

I've used Facebook Marketplace a few times with good success and I also used Craig's list recently.....and it worked out well. The largest issue with either is the scams.

FB marketplace has been my gold mine. Just bought a dryer today. i resell select appliances after i fix them. got my roundport e-heads last yr for a great price as well. And local. Tired of selling on e-bay with the fee's and scammers returning broken stuff that isnt even what they bought. Craigslist around me is a ghost town.

Thanks, all, sounds like FB marketplace and craigslist will still be the best find-a-normal-car websites. I have only begun to look on Bring a Trailer.

My 2nd gen is out there. I just have yet to find it.

I rarely seem to find much worthwhile on craigslist or fb marketplace around here anymore when it comes to vintage Pontiacs.

If you happen to be in the market for a clapped out 1999 chevy tahoe with no title and meth pipe shards in the carpet, FB marketplace probably has you covered.

Expand your search on FB Marketplace to see more of what you are looking for available!

Example : I live in Northern Ohio (13 miles from Norwalk Raceway Park/Summit Motorsport Park) & I use a zip code in Knoxville, Tn. Using the 500 mile radius option, it just includes my place (480 miles) but gives me a lot of the southern & south central states). I change that zip for the western states when I know that I have a string of west coast transports for customers just in case I find something I can't live without or something on my long bucket list!

God Bless

Check Cars & Bids. It's basically the same as Bring a Trailer but gets less traffic.

Also don’t be afraid to put out a wanted ad, that’s how I found my ‘72. I put a post on every Pontiac Facebook group I could find and had a lot of people reach out privately (even with my low budget) The owner reached out to me just as I was about to commit to another car and instead bought his car. It’s always best to buy the car someone wasn’t selling, worked out great for me.

800 series GM trucks are in my zone. How many meth pipe shards are we talking about?

How do you sellers handle the money and shipping on the stuff you sell? I'm thinking of opening a separate account for that only. Is that the right thing to do?

What about shipping and fees?

I've bought 3 cars from ebay with good results. I'll sell cars or parts on craig's list if they are not rare or expensive. I've had too many BAD experiences on face book. Too many crooks on there. If you want something on FB try to find someone who knows the seller.
