Here's what is selling near me (about 10 miles).. in Tony Townley's collection (founder of "zaxby's).. many ..many classic /older cars.. this one is surprising me.. (cheap, compared to other cars selling) a 1969 firedbird ram air I/V. convertible.. now at $42,000!. the current price is shockingly low.
Lots of other cars that are not nearly as rare selling for much more many rare of all makes and high very high bids! ...online is active now.. I assume final bids will be in person? auction is now thru this weekend..check it out! I'll be there! here.. https://bid.richmondauctions.com/auc...RDLZG&limit=36

RAIV convertible Bird was part of the Milton Robson collection. From what I remember it sold for well over 200k when that collection was sold. Looks like it has a reserve on it however the RAII GTO is no reserve.

The write up is horrible
Description Talk about a rare bird, this 1969 Firebird Convertible is powered by Pontiac's meanest engine of that model year, the 345 horsepower 400 cubic inch Ram Air IV that was commonly found in the GTO. One of only 17 originally built by the Factory, of which, only half have ever been accounted for. In the pantheon of million-dollar muscle cars, the 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am convertible stands tall. However, there is another 1969 Firebird with a higher-performance engine that is also a convertible and extremely rare. It just doesn't have the Trans Am option and has a bit of a sleeper look, sans special badges, and painted in Dark Blue with a Parchment vinyl interior and white vinyl top. But it's what resides under the hood that makes this Firebird one of a kind. Firebird is all that and more with its unique and hardcore 400 Ram Air IV, and since the first generation (1967-1968-1969) Firebirds were head turners, the 1969 is special among the three model years for new sheet metal and a fresh, restyled look for the 1969. Along with this new styling came a brand-new Ram Air hood. Pontiac incorporated a manual flapper valve inside the car so the driver could cut off cold air to the Polyfoam-sealed air cleaner assembly. This hood with cold air induction was standard on the RA-IV Firebirds but optional on the L-74 Ram Air 400. Other firsts for 1969 included a standard three-spoke, padded, shallow-dish steering wheel incorporating the ignition key to lock the column. The wheel will not turn without the key, helping with theft prevention. The ground-up restoration began with a great car. There is no evidence of either collision damage or rust repair throughout the vehicle. The panels are straight with no evidence that they have ever been replaced. The trim has been restored to the highest level or is NOS (new old stock). The chrome is also brilliant and like new. The glass is OEM with correct logos, the stainless steel is completely restored or NOS, and the interior appears virtually new. From the vinyl seats to the wood-grained console, door panels, gauge assembly, and paint. The underbody and chassis are detailed to OEM standards, as is the engine, which is of the correct "WH" code with "727" casting heads and the header-like cast iron exhaust manifolds unique to this RA-IV Firebird. Other options include Magnum wheels, hood tach, AM-FM radio, console-mounted eight-track cassette player, and power brakes. Fully documented and with excellent provenance and PHS documentation, the owner of this Firebird will possess a late 1960s convertible worthy of a favored spot in muscle car heaven, as it combines the very best of everything: outstanding performance, looks, and power. VIN: 223679L118124. Condition Memorabilia purchases are eligible for free delivery to Christmas Dixie Gas in Sevierville, TN on December 5th. Bird is at $220k last I looked still a huge bargain. iMO
Has a couple issues I saw like the heat riser shroud is incorrect and the underhood lamp is in the wrong location couldn’t see if it was a single bolt as it should be or what. Simple changes to make.

His 64 GTO Convertible did pretty good money at 137
62 SD 140 68 Ram2 4spd Vert 150 69 Bird Ram4 4spd Vert 260 Those 3 went for low to very low. Most all of his other muscle cars did good to really good. 69 Camaro RS/SS Pace Vert 396/375 4spd went 260 That was also a former Milt R car. |

I had registered to bid just in case this Firebird "ran under the radar". However, after I saw what things were selling for on Day 1, I knew I probably didn't have a chance. Until Forrest posted this, I didn't know this car was still local.
