Default 1971 Rosewood Metallic

Does anyone have any pictures, or links to pictures, of a '71 in Rosewood Metallic? (code 78) This must be an unusual color, because I can't seem to find a single example. I searched www.ultimategto.com and didn't see any. There were a couple of shots of cars described as "burgundy" but I don't think it's the same. It's not even litsted in a lot of GTO books as a '71 color. I have a paint chip for 1971 and I can see it's a brownish-burgundy, but different than the code 78 for 1970 which is called "Burgundy."

My '71 GT-37 has code 78 on the cowl tag (the car was yellow when I bought it, and still is) and I want to try to visualize what it looked like when it was new, and what it will look like when I repaint it back to original. It's an early GT-37 so it would have red/white 'eyebrow' stripes, on the Rosewood body. Kind of a nice-sounding combo, but probably really scarce.

Anyone?

UPC-WU2,

Rosewood is a very rare color that was only used for one year. There were only 250 GTO's painted that color which makes it the rarest color in '71.

Judge273,

I don't think that car is rosewood, it's too light. I looked at my original '71 paint chips and it's much darker, closer to a metallic burgundy...

Rosewood is the "burgandy" or maroon color on the '71 paint chip chart. Years ago, parted a 6cyl T-37 hardtop that was Rosewood, it gave up a flawless header panel.

Default Rosewood

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure to the color. But, this car is something I haven't seen before. Here is a shot down the line of various cars.

oPH: Did you get the check yet. I tried to PM you but box is full.

Here is what my 71 looked like when I bought it. It was called a Rosewood poly. It looked like it had very small gold flakes in it.

check this link too.

There have been 2 (1971) Chevelle SS454 Chevelle's in factory Rosewood on BaT this past month.
Shocking to see them back to back.
1st one was 4spd , the one on there now is Automatic AC.
Both had their Buildsheets.

Cannot recall there being a 71 Judge in Rosewood , and very few GTOs.
There was a Lemans Sport Convertible 455HO and loaded , factory PMD car years ago on eBay.

My old ‘71 Skylark was rosewood from the factory, it had been resprayed by the time I purchased it, pretty color when fresh.
