Default France Payment question

I know a lot of you ship different things internationally. Recently (the last 6 months) I have had nearly every customer from France come up with an address mismatch on their credit cards that doesn't make sense. I even had one customer show me his bank statement showing the address they have and it 100% matched what he gave me. I spoke to a few guys on this and nobody seems to know what the issue could be. I have had to resort to using different payment methods to resolve most of these issues, or had them cancel orders.

Does anybody have any clue what may be going on here? I don't seem to have any issues with customers in other countries (or at least nothing that can't be fixed easily). Any input is welcome.

Lightbulb Ask your customer

Have your customer do the research.
Have them choose the method of
packaging, shipping and choice of insurance.
That way, if something goes wrong
it is not your responsibility.

So after some further research it looks like this is a common problem, and to either remove the address verification system altogether for processing payments or find an alternate payment method. Something to do with the way their addresses are set up within their system.
