I did some searching first and saw recommendations for the Ames performance argent silver and charcoal. However, from what I can gather they don’t seem to make it anymore. Or at least I can’t seem to find it anywhere on the internet.
I did see argent silver and charcoal Rally 2 paint from Eastwood. I’m thinking that’s what I want but the price is pretty steep per can so I want to be sure it’s right before I order.
Anyone have experience with this paint or have any other insight?

The eastwood paint is good. Im not sure if its really an eastwood product, maybe the same thing can be had cheaper elsewhere.

The Masking Kits available for the Rally IIs are trash. Probably moreso because of variances if the manufacture of the wheels themselves, but dont bother with the masking kit. Just tape the wheels off.

I just did a set of JWs with Eastwood paint. They came out nice, and I hit them with some satin clear to protect the finish from brake dust. Did the backside in the correct gray finish.

I have found that any silver/argent paint will work, the correct grey color is the key. Don't make that too dark. and a good satin clear is a good idea after.

I spray the silver first, mask off the spokes and rim, and then apply the grey, and then the clear.

and yes, the stensils are useless

I agree that the stencils are a waste. I used them when painting my wheels and they peeled and curled, leaving gray paint seep under them. I had to go back and repaint the wheels using tape instead of the stencils. Skip the stencils.

Making progress. Got the tires removed and had them sandblasted. Pic 1. Then got them primed and the silver sprayed on. Next step, masking them for the charcoal grey. Seems like it’s going to be a pain in the ass. Haha. Patience will get it done though. No I didn’t paint them on my kitchen table. ��

Masking the silver is pretty easy. I use regular painters tape laid over the spokes and the small sections that connect the spokes at the bottom, and trim the edges with a sharp razor. That way you dont have to worry about spending time trying to make every edge perfect when laying the tape, as the razor makes it perfect.

I usually wedge flash cards in the seam where the face of the wheel meets the barrel, so you dont need to use miles of tape on the barrel.

Looks like they're coming out great!

Yep. I did the razor blade trick. Worked great!

I recommend using a paintbrush and brushing paint down into the seam between the hub and the rim. I used POR15 there first, then the primer then the paint. After sitting outside for years they still haven't started rusting.

I have done both the stencil and razor blade/masking tape thing. Stencils are a lot faster. Stencils work well if you take the time to line them up properly. These wheels weren't painted perfectly from the factory anyways. If you are doing a set of JW/KR wheels... make sure you use the 14' wheel stencils. I would use the stencils again. I'm not a very patient person.
