A buddy found these results on site recently. First real legal race week of high school graduation. Legal weight was around 3700 we were 3800. Had to reroute gas line on other side of frame near the scattershield in the pits. Towed it with my buddy's 1970 Challenger!

Formula 1 was dual quads-no tunnel rams allowed but I think cross rams were. I passed on a Mickey Thompson cross rams thinking it was no legal-wish I had picked it up for what they are worth now. Formula 2 I think was single 4 bbl, and i think 3 was a 2BBL not sure what Formula 4 was. I think there was no definitive width on slicks as long as they fit in the fenderwell! The 70 and up Cudas had a big advantage there.

Yes Dallas International. Also ran it at the 72 IHRA Nationals there. We did have to pull all the stickers off the get any street races with the "348 truck motor". Pulled the 409 badges off the fenders and no one in '72 remembered about 409s.
70K mileage 340 HP short block added the 425 HP heads and dual quad intake with the sideways Holley 715s. Crane 310/320 .580/.590 cam. Aluminum flywheel, 4.56 posi 'thick gears" so no spacer plate(learned that lesson with the 4.10s). Air Lift bags in rear springs. Hurst 80/20 front shocks. 9" Cheater slicks-drove those on the street too! With the 4/56s and the light flywheel would get a jump on them and keep them there.

I don't care if it was 40+ years ago, congratulations again! Love the vintage pics, The vinyl roof, the pics in the pits, the trailers and tow vehicles. Not to mention the huge trophy. We had fun in the 1970's.

That trophy and the one form the IHRA Nationals that year I gave top the owner of the 71 or 72 455 HO GT37 "Black Gold" car years ago. It had won class at those races also and since it had racing history gave them to him. And my parents were glad to get those giant things out of the living room!
Some of the engine pieces for the new 470" 409 were from that car. My parents were also glad for me to get those out of the garage! Vinyl top was a weird one almost like convertible top material vs the GTO/Chevelle material.

A few more pictures for you of the car.
Yes Chevelle/GTO seats, good catch! I hated the Impala non locking seats flopping up when you braked! They even went into my 69 Road Runner as it had no front seats when I got it! Road runner(383 4bbl 4 speed power nothing no A/C) was replaced by the 78 TA in 78.

The tachometer mount on Skips dash is really nice.
Back then I had the mandatory Sun tachometer mounted on the steering column. Side note regarding Skips vinyl roof. While in High School my father bought a 1963 Impala Super Sport and it had a factory option black vinyl roof installed. '63 was the first year that Chevy had a vinyl top option. They were only available in black or white and only installed on 3% of production. .
