I want to consider pulling the trunk drain, and looking for the tan wire going to the fuel sender in the or running a new wire in general. My thought is going thru the drain plug in the trunk. I just wondering how is set in press. Or is it welded. I may just take a hole saw and do it that way. Any other way to find out if the tan wire is connected.

What is the fuel gauge reading? There should be a connector near the area where the wire passes from inside of the trunk to the outside usually somewhere near the license plate mount. If you can find that, disconnect the wire and see if that changes the fuel gauge reading. Also, you can use one of those inexpensive testers with a light to see if there is power at the connector. You can also loosen the gas tank straps and let it drop down some and you may be able to see the top of the sender unit and possibly get your hand in there. I wouldn't start cutting holes in the trunk floor as it will be a stab in the dark as far as finding the wire goes and if the problem is a faulty sender unit you will be dropping the tank anyway to get to it.

Yup yup I found that wire right after making this post. Haven't token my multimeter overthere yet to test. But I must likely drop the tank and run a new wire and sender if I don't get anything.

Whelp I checked the plug on ohms. Nothing! Even tried on continuity, nope no single its a bad sender. Well at least I get to run a new wire.

Tested with ignition key in the run/on position?
