Brake Pad Wear Indicator Orientation
Looking for some input on this project.
I am replacing rear Rotors, Calipers, Backing Plate and Parking Brake Components on a 2005 Silverado 2500. So, the pad set has two pads with Indicators on both ends, one pad with an Indicator on only one end and one pad opposite. I am guessing that the pads with two indicators go outboard and the single indicator pads are positioned inboard with indicator on leading end. Anyone know if that is correct? Thanks, Dave

I am honestly scratching my head over this one,
As someone who has changed a set of pads or two on these trucks ('02 Silverado 3500 W/788,000 miles & an '03 Sierra 2500HD W/600,000 miles) I have never had a set of pads come like that. Yes though I would put the wear indicator on the leading edge. On a side note....My inner pads tend to wear a bit quicker than the outer pads on both my trucks. Bill,
Wow, that's a lot of miles. My passenger side inner pad is has noticeable more wear than the outer. The driver side must have been hanging as both pads are almost to the metal. Dave

I think you'll find the indicator won't fit in one position. It hits on the bracket, IIRC, but I can't recall if it's inboard or outboard.

I checked the factory service information for you The double wear sensor pads go in the inside location. The single wear sensor pads go with the sensor on the leading edge of the rotor as the vehicle goes forward. Hope this helps.
