Ran the car a bit today - let her rip on an onramp: the Gen V 5.3 and TKO are a very nice combo!

I bet!

I'm getting close to finishing my Muncie LS3 install. Can't wait. Breaking in the clutch is going to kill me. Lol!

I had a M23Z w/2.93's out back - I really miss the Rockcrusher growl of the gears!

Sounds silly but I miss the reverse lock and key buzzer too. The Ames repop mechanical linkage worked well but the exhaust was in the way. Even though that bridge has long been in the rear mirror, I try to figure out a way for a speed sensor for the ECM... read off the front hub?

There are VSS sensors for Muncies, and think there are slip yokes with reluctor wheels on them.

For VSS, you have a choice of pulses, guess you could get a reluctor wheel with diff pickup teeth.

Could always look at ABS wheel sensors and pickups too.

GM ECUs can be programmed to run in manual trans mode where it wouldn't require a feed. Might even be able to find a signal processor add-on that can replicate it from vendors that do plug in tuners.

Just throwing some thoughts out there...

Yes, multiple methods.

My ECU burner noted he ran a TH400 without a speed sensor no issue - no doubt the easiest.

The TA with 6.2 used SpeedHut CANBUS gauges, so no issue there... I looked at using them with the Lemans but SpeedHut is not as flexible design-wise as they were 10 years ago. I did not like the Dakota Digital faces.

I had a VSS with the 5.3 and factory computer. It was wrong pulses for the Holley I wanna say. Didn't want to buy another unless needed. When I set up the 6.2 with the Holley, it sounded like I didn't need it. It worked fine with 400 turbo and no VSS. I think it's just for "additional features". I'm guessing that's data logging speed, nitrous related to speed, etc.

I need to turn off my 400 turbo downshift. I used the A/C kick output for it. Need to research if any other parameters need changed for stick shift.

I had a Dakota Digital speedo cable one with the factory ECM.

Curious, what design limitation did you come across with the SpeedHut gauges?

I'm not a fan of the Dakota stuff, they look nice, but have heard moisture can be a problem with them.

I have a 4L80e on a Holley Dominator ECU, set the pulse at 10,000 ppmile, using a SpeedHut speedo. Not sure if that helps you or not but figured I'd mention it.

EDIT: I have a trans output set on J1-B12 as PWM for the speedo.

I need to add a datalog input for speed, haven't figured that out yet, but haven't tried too hard yet.

Ok. Thanks!

I'm a newcomer to the digital tuning realm. I know just enough to be dangerous. lol

I wanted to make a setup that would fit in the stock metal instrument housing - sandwich between the housing and lens. I would send them an AutoCAD file with tested dimensions to cut the translucent plastic and mount the stepper motors. A simple pigtail(s) would connect to CANBUS as like their other stuff.

They were not interested. I can see as when I did the Trans Am they were in Young Turk mode business-wise. Not so much now. I understand as after a few years I stopped doing custom stuff as the percentage of flakes was far higher than normal line items.
