Will be experimenting with different carbs and spacers through the year. The HVH Super sucker on it now is highly rated as always a gain but also about to try my old Q-jet again and use a 3/4 open spread bore spacer on the ported RPM intake , also will try 850 DP vs this 950 VS

Larry, I picked up 12hp on the engine dyno when I replaced my Wilson 1" 4 hole spacer with a 1" open one. I'm always interested in your results, GREAT thread.

Thanks man, yeah will do that test as well. It certainly picked up with the RPM swap from the other Warrior although it turned out to have some port misalignment from intake being heavily milled on flanges I guess on the old one may try again one day .

Thanks guys, I ran two classes yesterday Pro and Modified and had some trouble with my relocated alternator belt coming off unknowingly on my first time trial. I had recently switched from clutch fan and stock water pump to a electric pump and fan and had track tested once after added the SD scoop to the steel hood and cutting the hole. That day I had added ballast in trunk to my trunk to slow car down to fit in the bottom ET allowed in Modified (7.25 ET and Slower) and the car ran dead on 7.25 , fast forward a month to yesterday and its hotter out so I put ice in my vintage cool can and retained all the ballast and sure enough the ran exact same as the last pass a month ago and went 7.25 again... then I hot lapped to do another time trail for other class not knowing belt was off and battery is going South quick but I was unaware . Got delayed in a traffic jam at end of track waiting for time slips car started getting hot so I shut it off but then battery was dead and couldn't restart. Had to get walk and get help and jump box. my club members had a generator and charger so while I was doing that the track guy I talked to actually found my belt and returned it to me. Got it back together for Round one Modified and after hooking hard on both time trials it blew the tires away like there was water and well that blew that round. Belt rolled over but was still on so at least I could then hot lap to first round of Pro knowing the belt is toast on this next run. Had a good close race but lost. Ran 7.33 on a 7.30 dial to 7.59 on a 7.57 because he got my ass on the tree he had a .02 light. I just went straight onto the trailer as of course the belt was gone again and I was done either way that race went.. I am going to install my new aluminum Summit 11 bolt mechanical pump and the RELIABLE clutch fan and shroud ! I really wanted to keep this car all mechanical anyway.

placed 3rd of 49 cars last Saturday at Little River - Vintage Drags in Comp class 651-7.99 , testing my old Quadrajet on my reconfigured 467 stroker combo went a 7.12@95 with the Q-Jet ! Its got easy 6.9-7.0 in it without taking hood off or emptying trunk ballast weight

Congratulations Larry, I really like your car! We used to hang out at Little River Dragway in the mid 1980’s when I was in the military. We would park between the trees on the right side of the track and back the truck up against the guardrail. With lawn chairs in the bed of yhe truck we had a front row seat as the cars came by. Many good memories there, someday I’d like to get back there.
I’ve got a question about your car. What did you have to do to the transmission tunnel to get the TH400 to clear? I’m currently installing one in a 1963 Grand Prix and had to remove a section of the transmission tunnel.
Can you post pics?

I never mentioned here the first stroker I did in 2023 and ran last year that went 7.07 a year ago had a catastrophic ARP cap screw bolt failure and busted the block , one rod one piston , a pair of roller lifters

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BIHH6WChAM

so I was following up with my friend that had bought a of a pile of Pontiac parts cheap a year prior and I had committed to buying a mystery 400 short block from him as a spare before my stroker blew up and went to get it and saw it had 8 Qt oil pan a billet roller chain and pricy looking forged flat tops and heading home I thought man this has nice parts and Robert knew nothing about the engine, he had gotten a 455 with forged TRWS and #62 head son it and some tri-powers and all kinds of stuff. I get home and the new core 400 was already a 467 stroker had Eagle 3D H beams with ARP 2000 cap screws , ARP main studs , Ross stroker pistons and apparently a dumb POS Comp XE 274H that went flat and ran the metal drippings over the rod journals and scuffed up the crank and some piston skirt scuffing.. So quick teardown clean up honed it and rings were still in spec (old bearings dated 2012-2013) so build was over ten years old I guess but low miles so left those and just got crank turned only and new rod main bearings and go the block decked .014" so that's what is back in the Catalina now and I milled the 83cc very old KRE 310 D ports flat 030" and got my CR to 11.0:1 from previous 10.5 and went to my old street solid roller 20 degrees smaller than what I had in other one. The old Ultradyne by Bullitt 278/2910 242/252 112 .566 .566 vs the 4/7 swap Howards 261/269 108 .622 .622 I had and so far it is actually already quicker at the same weight in testing with the Quadrajet vs the 950 HP Holley. Time to get that roll bar welded in the 11" single pot MC drums brakes are fine this MF'er has radial tires all the way around were good LOL

That trailer mess could have ended really bad. Glad to see no Pontiacs or their owners were harmed. Great thread, youre resilient

Can you post pics?
Thank you !

I may have beat on it some but I made my own crossmember , I know its not split open and such but its in there from prior TH350... Racing TH400 on the column shift I added 3/8 plate extension to a 70 Cutlass cross member bolting two bolts on each end for the extension and one bolt thru to the car seems fine.
