Default 8 lugs versus A320 wheel

Kinda interesting to see a wheel changed out on an AA A320 - the wheel interlocked brake discs remind me of the 8 lugs...

Brings back memories of my old NWA time. I changed many A320 wheels and tires ( among many other types ) ours A320's did not have the brake cooling fans that the AA version does in the video, ours just had a simple cap over the axle nut, held on by the same type of clamp used to hold the cooling fan ducting in the Video.
All the airliners I worked on uses similar multi disc brakes in various sizes and either steel or carbon disc's. The only exceptions where the old Convair 580's and the Japanese YS-11's that used single disc brakes. I didn't listen to the audio, but you set the parking brake to keep the disc's aligned when you remove the wheel, if you don't the disc's drop away from the stators and then you have alot more work aligning and lifting up each disc as you slide the new wheel assembly on.
It was very interesting work, I miss it sometimes, but I don't miss working for the Airlines at all. 25+ years was enough.

Thanks for posting it.
