Had a question if anyone has used the McLeod 16908 pivot ball, should have bought that in the first place, ended up with the summit brand one for $20.

First off on that one it only has about 3 threads, and it wouldnt tighten down very good, not to mention you can get your clutch fork on the thing. lol.....thats my review on that thing.

Just wondering when you guys are using an adjustable one , are you JB welding the nut on it.............seems like red loctite isnt gonna hold up that well on just a few theads of the nut.

Pics showing the difference between the solid ball and the adjustable ball, about a 1/8 inch, hard to believe i have to use this for such a small amount.

I have one from McCleod like two inches. The clutch fork is like an inch off the bell. Been in my car for 15 years.

Hey, thanks for the reply, your talking about the adjustable one from Mcleod, or is the one you have a solid piece.

Mine is 1 1/2 now and i need to go towards the motor another 1/8 according to center force instructions, so i need a longer pivot ball.

I see that have a gm #3790556 Long 1.680......gm # 3729000 short 1.380

Mine is the stock one Ames sells

You happen to have a # on the part your talking about, or the number on the tob would be a big help.

I bought the longer one years ago. I had to grind the head down so it was similar to the stock one. I also had to cut the bolt off shorter and saw a new slot in it.
I got it where I wanted it adjusted to, then I locktited it in place.

Sorry no part #, long gone. It was the adjustable one. Exactly, I loctited in place after I cut off the excess. I had my reservations about it being from what I remember like 1 1/2" but its still there after 2 trannys and a few different engine combos.
