Finally! House build has started.

Hopefully it will be finished before the septic in our current shack gives out.

Congrats! I'm sure this milestone did not come easy and hope it goes smoothly.

Looks like BIG hole. Basement? Did you have a place for the soil they removed or did it get hauled away?

Looks like a very nice start! Do they have estimates on the timeframe?

Footprint for the basement is 2700 sq/ft. It will have 9' to the bottom of the floor joist (12" will be used to run mechanicals). Most of the dirt will be used for backfill and to get a good grade away from the house which in some areas will require it to be tapered down easy for quite a distance. We've got a low area in the North 20 acre field that would take all this and then some, actually wish we had about twice as much.

If we got real lucky we'd be in by Christmas, more likely to be spring 2027. They seem to do things quite slowly here in TN

Cool! That sounds like a LOT of space surrounded by a LOT of space!

Congrats on getting all this planned and moving forward. Nothing is simple and you took on a big job.

Wish I had started it ten years ago. Don't want to sound morbid, but at 68 my "sell-by" date is not that far away. Wife is eight years younger, maybe she'll have more time to enjoy it

I think I would have settled for a little cottage in Italy somewhere. Drink and eat till I fall out of my porch chair. I'm kind of tired of working on things.
